Perfect and quite possibly the coolest Field Notes book ever
With 48 pages and 3.5" by 5.5" it's the perfect notebook for carrying in a pocket, not to thick or bulky. The 3/16" grid is heavy enough to see but not so overwhelming that it's distracting when writing. The inside of the front cover has a place for your National Park Passport Stamp and the back has a handy 5" scale as well as some history of the park. The beautiful illustration on the front cover (see the attached photo) is the Zion Narrows on the Virgin River, a place I have been to a few times and is a must see for all. The series A pack also includes Yosemite and Acadia National Parks and the additional Field Notes in the series cover many of the most iconic parks in the nation. I admit the park series is what spurred me to buy these but now that I see them in person they really are made well and entirely USA made. The look and feel is great and I can't wait to see how they look in a few months after taking notes in the rain and after carrying them in my hip pocket. I'm betting they'll look even better! I used to spend a lot of time with larger field journals taking notes, logging coordinates, drawing maps and the journals just got better looking with time and are a fond reminder of some great adventures as I'm sure these will be. I'm now looking forward to many more great adventures with the National Park series and collecting some more passport stamps. Considering their quality and attention to detail and the fact that a portion of the sale goes to support the National Park Foundation these are a great value.

Fantastic Value
Fantastic Value! These are the perfect size pocket notebook and the fact they are offered In Grid, Ruled, Plain, and Dot makes it all the better. There's not another brand that I've found that offers the same quality, durability, and variety in a pocket notebook! I highly recommend!

Perfect Pocket Size
I bought these Field Note notebooks for my new leather agenda for my purse and they’re the perfect size to fit right inside my agenda. The usefulness is great and the quality is well made. Writing on the paper is smudge proof and doesn’t bleed through the paper at all. The contents of the notebook came packaged well and the color fits along with my aesthetic I have going on. Will definitely be buying more of these for future needs.

A good easy-to-carry notebook for everyday lists and other things
A good notebook is important to me. As a writer and business owner, I need to take notes frequently and for a number of reasons. And, of course, I like to use a notebook for simple everyday things like lists. I've used digital apps for notes but somehow I prefer analog - plain ol' paper and pen or pencil. Comparing this to Moleskine, I soon noticed a number of differences. Now, I use a fountain pen a lot. The Moleskine is superior for writing with a fountain pen. The Moleskine paper is a bit more thick and has a deeper ivory or yellow tone that's easy on the eyes and more pleasing in my opinion. The Field notes are a plain white. The paper is superior to dime store pads, of course. But not the quality of Moleskine. At least not in my opinion. Field Notes do not have many pages. But, that's one reason I bought them. I wanted a slim notebook that was lightweight and not bulky. Of course, The Field Notes are just stapled and not the quality product of Moleskine. There's no getting around that fact. But, I find the Moleskine pad too bulky to carry around in my small bag and to deal with when I'm out. So, I take the Field Notes book and it works fine. I use a pencil or my Tornado pen with it and it's suitable. It's more of a notebook for informal items and items of lesser importance to me. Not client notes or story ideas, article ideas or ads. For that, I turn to Moleskine. So, I guess it depends on what you want to use the notebook for and how you plan on using it. It depends on what writing instrument you use and whether or not you intend to file the notebooks. I don't see myself filing the Field's notes but I do keep my Moleskine notebooks from year to year. As a minimalist, that may not be a great idea but I like to refer back to them from time to time for a number of reasons. Perhaps a note I made on a client or a note I made about something at a certain time. Of course, these are things one can get an app for. So, you may prefer to keep your records that way. I do keep many digital records. But, as I say, I prefer to write with a pen when I really want to get my thoughts down. For example, I often create the first draft of a radio commercial in one of my notebooks using a pen. Then I go to the computer and finish it. So, I recommend Field's Notes as a basic, easy-to-carry simple note pad. But, if you really want a keeper of your thoughts and ideas and a pleasing writing experience that's easy on the eyes, go with Moleskine. For the record, both notebooks will bleed through. Perhaps with pencil they're not so bad but using any ink instrument, including ball point, you'll find bleed through. Just something you may have to live with.

Saving You Time. It's The Right Journal, Spend Time Looking For A Good Pen Now.
I love, love, love these little notebooks. I have one little journal/notebook that I would keep in my pocket, daily. It did well. When my daughter was born, I bought a set of these to help keep track of her diaper changes and feedings, and it made it simple and easy with the gridlines and dotted line journals (feels nicer and more flexible than a lined journal). It was nice and small so that we could take it to doctor's appointments. I have used them to help me with work. Sometimes I cannot get a thought out of my head and I'll have a hard time focusing. I just whip it out and write down what is on my mind (e.g., buy sparkplugs, look up random a fact, create a list, etc.) and it's helped boost my productivity. You can also use it to keep it in your car for maintainance. For example, if you got a new car, stash one in the glove box. Every item of maintainence you do, you can log it by date, service, and mileage. It's helpful when you do your own work and if you ever plan to resell, you have a log. Or you can be me prior to a journal, and also keep years worth of receipts.

Quality of life improvement
Gone are the times of beautiful grocery lists or the pocket ledger of senseless ideas, you forget how important pen and paper are until you carry them all the time. Quality of life improvement
