does this work on gm vortec engines?

Yes, and it works beautifully. I fought those fan clutch nuts for hours before finding out about this tool. Now it takes longer to set the tool up than it takes to break the clutch nut loose (about 30 seconds to set up, maybe five seconds to break it loose). It is worth every penny in saved frustration alone.

Can I buy the part that fits into the air hammer seperetely?

If you are talking about the long bar, Amazon has it (Lisle # 43370) but the set was a better deal since the bar is $44.00 by itself.

Does this wrench fit a 2000 Dakota?

Despite what Amazon fitment helper says, yes it does! Works perfectly on my 2000 Durango R/T 5.9L Magnum!
