Whats the point of no decimal point?
These scales aren't the best quality, they feel cheap and light, and how the heck are you supposed to enter food values that are rarely whole numbers without the facility to enter a decimal point? However, the list of foods pre-entered into these scales is twice that of all the other scales (1999 rather than 999), the majority of which do apply to the british market (although I have to use shrimp instead of prawn because for some strange reason prawns aren't listed and you have to remember some foods just have different names in the States, ie oatmeal instead of porridge etc). Plus they are the only scales I could find that would allow me to enter and save custom foods if what I want isn't in the book.Seeing as I only use these for counting calories which are usually in wholes numbers these scales do the job I want but they seriously need to think about these things when designing a product

Poor quality for price not as photo suggests
It's product looks metallic but is in fact extremely lightweight plastic. It is certainly not worth the money when you can purchase much better quality scales for far less. I mistakenly thought the more expensive would be better quality. Product arrived with no instructions although there was a place in the box for a booklet. When I requested this I was send a PDF file to print out! Not the most economical use of a printer I have to say and without the printed booklet the scales would need to be beside the computer to be of any use! I returned the these and decided to go with the cheaper scales.

Not Really For UK Market
I used to have a salter nutrition scale and with this one you could actually see the name of the food rather than have to use a code. I don't really like having to use a code as it's basically a hassle. All of the food items in the book are for the American market so would probably be gobbledeegook to most British people ( it is to me ). They don't have a code for some simple things like skinless chicken breast or skinless turkey breast. It takes a little while to get used to and is irritating , for reasons given. You are able to add up to 99 codes of your own which is good but the problem is it won't accept decimal points , so if a protein value of a food you want to enter is 12.5g , you would only be able to put in 12g or 13g. This seems ridiculous to me . Apart from that it seems quite good but I would trade it in immediately if I could find a better one.

Good but no good enough
I like the scales because they are light, compact and easy to use. I bought the scales to count my daily in- take of calories. The down side is that The Food Code Book appears to be more fitting for the U.S.A market. I feel that much of the food listed in this book is not familiar to the GB food market.I got around this problem by buying a diet book that gives for example, the total calories in a 50g serving of certain food etc. Not as convenient as entering a code and putting your food on the scales, to them see the total calories and nutrition fact on the screen. If the manufacturers had also produced a food code book for the British market; I would have given this product an extra star

Very useful scale
My need to check calories in weighed produce was my driver to buy this scale. It is very detailed in its functions, you receive a good booklet with item codes of food stuffs. It is mostly American in its terms for meat but a quick check on Google helps interpret the cuts of meat for those used to English butchers terminology. They are very useful and look good as well with a high glossy finish to the scale bed. You can zero once you have placed a dish on the scale, which is a basic thing with scales but I double-checked this before buying them. I'm sure they can be used in a more sophisticated manner than I use them but I wanted quality first, so was happy to pay the price and am very happy with them.

British purchasers beware.
The scale and display is quite well presented, though a larger pan would be an improvement. Entering custom items is not intuitive, though OK once you get the hang of it. These custom items are important as many of the foods listed in the code book are American brands which we do not see on this side of the Atlantic. In its favour, it weighs in pounds and ounces and not just in ounces as some digital scales do.
