A quality nostepinne or nostepinde for winding wool or yarn, handmade by ourselves in Aberdeenshire Scotland using some unusual and beautiful spalted beech we have processed ourselves. ** Please note that this listing is for a single nostepinne, and the pictures with multiples are just to show range of markings ** A nostepinne or nostepinde is used to wind yarn into a ball for knitting or weaving. Ours have a simple and pleasing design, providing a comfortable hand grip area that feels just right, a narrow raised section on which to rest your thumb (trapping the free end of the yarn), and a gently tapered section 7" (17cm) long on which to form your ball. Spalting is a natural process that changes the colour of the wood as it ages. All items have been made to best show the mix of lighter and darker spalting colours - resulting in each being unique. On these items, a natural wax has been applied and buffed off to provide a silky smooth finish which is pleasing to hold and helps the wool ball easily slide off once complete. The nostepinne measures approx 26cm (10inches) in length, with the winding area being 17cm (7inch) long and approx 2cm (3/4" in diameter). Please note that these are sold individually and the pictures of multiples are just to show variance in spalted beech grain and colouring. ** We've combined the postage on these, so you just pay postage once regardless of how many nostepinnes you order ** If you have other requests such as different woods (we usually have beech, ash, sycamore available) or custom lengths, then please get in touch.
