EcoPure EP31 31,000 Grain Water Softener | NSF Certified | Salt & Water Saving Autosense Technology for Whole House Soft Water Regeneration, Dark Gray

Bought this to replace my 16 yr old Kenmore 280 series softener. Researched other softeners at big box stores and what sold me was that EcoPure is part of Water Channel Partners, LLC...a company that has been in the water softener business since 1925 and had purchased the rights to the reliable Kenmore brand. In fact, the EP31 is nearly identical to the design of my series 280 to the point where installation took all of 10 mins using existing plumbing lines/fittings without modifications. Was even able to insert and reuse the old bypass valve without disconnecting it from the inlet/outlet water lines. Been in service for a week now and our new softener is doing the job just fine.My only reservation in buying online was the shipping & handling in transit. Softeners are not to be laid down on their side and was hesitant to trust those responsible for delivery to know this. However, it arrived right side up and intact. Watched the guys unload it from the delivery truck and they kept it upright while assuring me it was properly loaded onto the truck as well. Could only hope it was handled correctly from the point of manufacturer, too...but, that would be the case no matter if I picked one up locally. Softener was well packed and supported inside the box, too. All said, I'm very pleased with my decision. Hopefully, it will last another 16 yrs. or more.UPDATE: It's now been a year since I installed this softener. Has been working flawlessly.

This water softener has been working perfectly. It was easy to install and setup. If anything goes away, I will update my review. We have well water and are using rust free salt pellets. As of now, the water is soft and our cold water particle count coming out of the tap is 100. This is with just the softener being used. I have also tested the water out of a Brita filtered water pitcher and it read 24. That's phenomenal. They have a great 5 year warranty extension, which we are definitely doing.

Worked well until 1 month past the regular warranty and then the display screen just shows blank. After several emails where they make you do troubleshooting, they deny the warranty and state that the circuit board is not covered under the extended warranty (and hope you just go away). More emails where I had to argue that the extended warranty covers everything, I bought their ridiculous EcoPure brand cleaner (which has absolutely nothing to do with the circuit board) and had registered the 5-year extended warranty. Then they require proof that you bought the cleaner, and it must be 3 bottles in each of the years you owned the conditioner (can’t buy 6 in one year). They don’t tell you upfront that they are going to have those specific requirements. Could only find one receipt so they won’t honor the warranty. What a joke!

The tank is 3/4" taller than the 8 year old kenmore of the exact same model. Had to make up new adapters at about $52. figure to replace the media in the old one and keep it as a spare, then use spacers to get it to line up properly. The plumbing tree that fits into the softener is exactly the same with new o-rings but there are no hook ups to the 1" threaded pipe fittings included like the original Kenmore unit. No feed back yet on operation.

Installed it and that was easy. Had an issue with water in tank looking dirty. Tech support was fantastic. They coached me through the perceived issue - not really an issue with performance. Working great and the water is soft.

I needed to replace my 18 year old Kenmore water softener and started searching for a replacement. This was an almost exact replacement except that it is 1/2" taller. I just cut a 1/2" section out of the two copper pipes and rejoined them with a coupler.I called Ecopure and found out that they are the actual manufacturers of the Kenmore, Whirlpool, Ecopure and possibly Hotpoint water softeners. They were extremely helpful in finding which model would be the best replacement for my existing one.The unit that I received had some hidden shipping damage inside that I didn't see until installation was almost complete. The lady (same one as my previous phone call) was so helpful again and sent me the replacement parts at no charge.The support people at Ecopure actually answer the phone and return calls which is so rare these days.The units are made in the USA and I highly recommend the company and any of the water softners that they make.While I have previous plumbing experience, I would recommend that most people have a plumber install this for you. My biggest problem was getting rid of the old unit since our trash company wouldn't accept it and the unit is extremely heavy after the resin bed is full of water.Jeff

Ready to install, program and bring on line. Great value and works very well for our fire person home. Be cognizant of pipe threads as you connect the unit. Otherwise very easy to use.

Replaced my softener easy to reinstall. Works great if you have hard water buy a water softener helps with water bill and keeps clothing new longer.

I bought this specifically to replace an older kenmore that looks the same. Just keep in mind, if you are buying this so you can quickly and easily install it, it is not the same. The bypass valve is different, so you need to cut and adapt your plumbing. Even the discharge outlet is different, previously using a hose size thread now a cheap barbed fitting for a provided hose. As I had the previous drain behind a finished wall, this made the install much more complicated.Also, as a general observation, the quality has dropped between this and my old unit. Even the discharge connector is smaller, and broke while trying to thread a brass connector on it. I was able to fix it myself by melting another brass connector into it.. but I don't have the confidence that I will see 20 years service out of this one like I did my last.Bottom line : If a deciding factor for your purchase is ease of installation because you are replacing a kenmore, then this unit it not for you. Select a unit that meets your other requirements, as this will likely not be a "plug and play" option for you.

Quit working after 6 months, did all the trouble shooting provided by seller. Contacted seller and explained the issue and they wanted be to explain in a way you would have to be a professional repairman to understand. So no warranty repair service was provided. Would not recommend.

Took along time to ship .. now can’t get anymore . Was a great value at 649$
