Better than advertised

It’s a great speaker with its quirks that many reviews do not mention. It needs somewhat of a break in period. At first the sound wasn’t that great. Didn’t sound good past 50% bass would fall off and the sound would compress a lot. After a few hours of mixed music play back it got far better. Highs cleaned up, mids could be better but it’s to be expected. It’s only a 2 way speaker and the bass still falls off at higher volumes but not as aggressively. BEWARE!!!!!! if you play extremely heavy bass like sub 35hz and crank it up it will cut off the side woofers with a audible pop. Seems to be some sort of protection. Battery life is decent. Could be better. Keep the volume at about 40-60% and you will get around 7-8hrs or so. Any higher and the battery gets drained extremely fast. Button controls. These need a lot of work. It’s is nearly impossible to use them without looking. They are symmetrical and it’s often hard to tell when you are turning it on or playing music. Speaking of turning it on. IT IS SLOW!!!!!! It takes a good 15-25secs to boot up and connect to WiFi after you set it up of course. And that leads to another quirk. Every time you turn it on it automatically goes to WiFi. You have to wait a bit then switch to Bluetooth and manually connect from your phones settings. It will not automatically connect to the previous used device like it does on WiFi. The design definitely turns heads. I was brave enough to take it on vacation with us out to a resort in canyon lake. Small town north of San Antonio. We used it by the pool and yes it got splashed a bit, still works fine so durability is there. Just be responsible with it. The mania definitely impressed a lot of people. It definitely outputs a lot of sound for its small size. Highs were clean and bass was strong as long as you don’t turn it up past 80-90% then it falls off. Still overall the audio stayed relatively clean with some bit of audio limiter kicking in at times. The ability to hear audio from all around the speaker is definitely nice. Came in super handy during game nights where we’d all sit at the table and the music could be heard no matter where you sat. It was nice. Not gonna lie. It is on the pricy side. $899 is a hard pill to swallow when there’s other options out there. But man. Those other options don’t look this good. The build quality is nice and the mania has a nice weight to it. Feels solid. If you got the cash to burn. By all means buy it. You’ll learn to live with the quirks after a bit and learn to really like this speaker.

IN BRIGHTEST DAY IN DARKEST NIGHT NO EVIL WILL ESCAPE MY SIGHT! LET THOSE WHO WORSHIP EVIL'S MIGHT BEWARE MY POWER GREEN ... err MANIA'S LIGHT! I just need the ring to recharge :) It can make you feel a bit like Green Lantern. :) So this was the earliest of a line of speakers by Devialet a French company. And it shows. No way to update the firmware in order to fixes for its many problems. I am trying to use it with Apple TV and AirPlay 2 and it doesn't work very well with it. Better with the iPhone as far a the Apple ecosystem is concerned. With the Apple TV it likes to drop the AirPlay in the middle of programs, when changing programs ... and less than 10 hours means you really have to keep it connected to its charging plate. The sound is great but not super duper as the AI claimed. Two subwoofers : great. Packaging great. (I think it may come in green in France!) I am sending it back need a reliable traveling partner for Apple TV.

[Esta opinión está un poco extensa, sorry 😅] ◆ CONTEXTO Soy un fanático del buen audio y he tenido la oportunida de escuchar muchos altavoces, desde las marcas mas baratas hasta las marcas de renombre como Sonos, Bose, Harman Kardon, y algunas otras más... Con el paso del tiempo construyes una percepción y sabes "como es el buen audio", hasta el momento en que conocí a Devialet. Conocí a Devialet hace unos 4 años atrás y vi la gama de altavoces que tienen (son altavoces muy caros), pero, allí quedó "la espinita" y me dije "algún día escucharé algo de esta marca"; hace 3 años sacaron el Devialet Mania, pero no le puse atención porqué creí que no cumplía con mis expectativas (Quería buen volumen para interiores, buena potencia en frecuencias graves y portabilidad). En este 2026 quería algo mucho más portable que mi HK Go + Play 3, ya que en fines de semana salgo de viaje y quería algo con buena potencia y buena calidad, en fín, me reencontré con la Devialet Mania jaja 🤯 ◆ SOBRE EL VENDEDOR Me animé a comprarla con un vendedor externo (Full Moon Miracles Shop) y todo el envío estuvo de lujo, muy rápido y bien protegido, recomiendo mucho a este vendedor. 👌🏼 ◆ MI EXPERIENCIA Los materiales son de una calidad super buena, tiene un muy buen diseño y es muy compacta (un poco menos de la mitad de tamaño que mi HK Go + Play 3, wow! 😮), eso si, es algo pesada, y en lo personal tengo un poco más de cuidado al maniobrarla ya que los woofers están expuestos (me da un poco de miedo lastimarlos). El audio (otro wow!) es de lo mejor que he escuchado, tiene unos graves (muy) muy potentes y los agudos están al punto perfecto (para mi gusto), el altavoz se desempeña mucho mejor cuando lo pones cerca de una pared y se calibra en automático cuando ya no detecta movimiento (tiene un acelerómetro incorporado). Este altavoz es perfecto para escuchar EDM (lo probé en sub-generos como Hardstyle, Big Room, Dubstep y Tropical House), ufff tiene un audio muy envolvente y rico en graves, los medios están un poco opacos (pero para mi está bien) y los agudos complementan muy bien toda la música :D A veces escucho mi música, veo al Mania y me digo "Que obra de ingeniería, es tan pequeñito y tan potente". ◆ DESVENTAJAS :/ Al reproducir con Airplay desde una Macbook Pro, he notado algunos problemas cuando pauso y lo dejo así por algunos segundos, se desconecta de la Mania y tengo que volver a conectarla desde el panel de controles. Es algo menor y creo que parece ser un tema de Apple y esto también pasa con productos de Sonos. Algo que no me gustó es que la aplicación necesita si o si estar conectada a una red WIFI para poder administrar la Mania, pensé que se podía por Bluetooth pero no :/ Y esto no se especifica en la web oficial pero yo al menos esperaba que tuviera activado el UPnP para poder transmitir mis archivos de audio, hay ocasiones que no puedo usar la Macbook ni transmitir por Airplay y me tengo que conformar con usar el Bluetooth. Y para el bluetooth, solo soporta los codecs más basicos (SBC y AAC), no hay opciones como LDAC o AptX para streaming con un poco de mejor calidad (Si tienes un Android, conformate con SBC porque con AAC suena de muy baja calidad). La batería si dura las 10 horas a un volumen de 30-35% reproduciendo por Airplay, pero si subes el volumen al 70-80% con Bluetooth la duración baja a unas 5-6 horas. POr mi no hay problema ya que casi siempre tengo un enchufe cerca. ◆ ¿PARA QUIEN ES? Si priorizas calidad de audio sobre el volumen (si tiene buen volumen, pero no tanto para exteriores), escuchas música en interiores, te gustan los géneros musicales con ecualización en V (Prefencia en Bajos y Agudos) y quieres algo compacto/fácil de transportar, estoy seguro que estarás super satisfecho con este altavoz 💪🏼

Having a pair of Devialet Gemini II ear buds I really fel l in love with the build quality, massive sound stage and clarity through all ranges of music. How could I resist trying out their answer to the portable wireless bluetooth speaker? Well, I was slightly disappointed. Bass response is amazing, but as I've read in other reviews, if you listen to something other than EDM or hip hop the sound stage kind of implodes. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it sounded bad with other genres, but it does not justify the price of this speaker. Sadly I will be sending mine back
