good system but get a filter suited to your area
This is a slightly improved version of the Doulton filter I have had for over 10 yrs. The screw down metal fittings are good. The faucet adapter has a flow restrictor that I wish I could remove cause my pressure is not that good to begin with. The big issue is the filter itself. The black filter is no good for me -- it has a low flow and clogged with sediment right away. Every time I clean it, it just gets worse. I bought a Doulton Ultracarb 10 to replace it - the kind with the white ceramic sediment prefilter stuff on the outside and the carbon on the inside. This works much better and is the kind I have been using for years. My water comes from the NYC system and is pretty clean. I mainly want to remove sediment and chlorine and, of course, any potential lead or bacteria, but my water was rated as safe without a filter when I bought the house. I would recommend this system for a countertop. It is easy to use and clean.

Had to return it
Maybe I had a defect model? This filter made no difference in taste or quality to the water out of our tap. After carefully following the directions that were included, our family we ready to try fresh tasting water in our new home. BTW, our city's water is rated as a 1 on a scale of 1 to 100, 100 being top quality, so we really needed a good filter. Unfortunately, the one I had made no difference in taste whatsoever. We also tested the water with a ZeroWater tester and found that the sediment value actually increased! As for the design itself, we didn't like it. Having a hose reach around the faucet is a little annoying and unappealing. Although, I could've gotten over that if the filter would've worked. The filter didn't come with an adapter that fit our faucet so we had to run to Home Depot to pick one up... finally, the darn thing was just plain slow with the filter process. The 0.5 gallons per minute may be closer to 0.2-0.3, but I didn't run an actually test in that regard.

Excellent moderately priced filter
For about $100, this filter is great. Very easy to install, not bad looking for a counter top model, and seems to be very well constructed. The plastic is even BPA-free. If the technical specifications of the filter element for the CeraCarb filter element is accurate, than I don't think there is any better filter on the market for this price. We have a rain-catchment system so we chlorinate the tank each month, and also have 20 and 5 micron filters with a UV filter from the supply to the tap. We installed one of these AquaCera filters on each tap (1 kitchen, 2 bathrooms) for the final step in feeling safe. I highly recommend it.

Horribly Disappointed.
Complete and total disappointment. Our putrid tap water tastes exactly the same whether it's run through this filter or not. It also continues to run for approx. 15-20 seconds after the filter valve has been shut off. Wish I'd purchased a better known, reputable R/O system.

Not great
I don't taste any difference from this filter to my 5 month old PUR pitcher filter that needed to be replaced. I hope it does what it says cause I sure can't taste any difference.

The best affordable "do it all" filter
After more than a month of research I finally settled on this filter.I hope this helps some of you that are in the same boat or are on the fence. At first I was out to get something decent that filters out the normal bad stuff, chlorine, chloramine, trihalomethane, lead, arsenic, cysts, bacteria, amoeba...Then I decided on reverse osmosis as this removes everything, but after extensive research, I found out this is not a good thing, its like throwing the baby out with the bathwater, we need those natural minerals, and frankly without them, the water just tastes awful/flat, also these RO systems acidifies the water, making the ph very low. We all should strive for a more alkaline balance so this is another no no for RO.Then I found the SmartWater purifiers, but after reading how they changed the filter, some even call it bait and switch, charging the same for something that filters half of the previous filters, I decided hell no. It also filters out all the beneficial minerals. Then I almost decided on the Berkey water purifiers, but after several bad reviews of filter quality, and the price/size and having to fill and wait for the water, I quickly changed my mind. If you are a prepper or lived in a rural area where there could be viruses, i.e, drinking well water, this might be worth it.Next I looked at the doulton ultracarb and was just about to order when I saw the Aquacera CeraMetix with fluoride filtering and I was intrigued. I never buy something without any customer reviews, but this filter does all the things I am looking for at an affordable price.600 GAL of filtering per filter, plus you can clean the ceramic filter with one of those green 3m pads 3 times before replacing it.I've had this filter now for 10 days and I must say, every glass of water is just phenomenal. The flow rate is great, but you still know the water is getting properly filtered as it doesn't flow too fast. The sink diverter valve is solidly built and should last a long time.My tap water just reeks of chlorine and other chemicals. After filtering, there is no hint of chlorine or weird smell or taste, the water is crystal clear and the best tasting water so far.
