Good adjustability and great clamping force.
Works great to latch on to a rusted flare nut, line nut, brake line, transmission cooler line, etc Good adjustability. You can feel it lock on to things that other locking pliers would slip on.. these work great on stripped fasteners and non-stripped . Also great for gripping a stuck outer tie rod end or sway bar link that just keeps spinning when you're trying to remove it

Fits functions and makes the job much easier!
I have had these for a good while First time using them they made the job possible to do. Without them I probably would have ruined the metal brake lines. Well worth the money.

Fantastic Tool for working with hex fasteners
If you need a tool to help loosen tight nuts and bolts, or to firmly hold one in place, this is a great option. These locking wrench pliers are very different from the standard Vise-Grip locking pliers. The jaws are designed to fit a hex-head fastener (bolt, nut, etc.)and hold it tightly in place. They are excellent for breaking lose extra-tight or rusted-on nuts and bolts. The special jaws provide a much more secure grip than standard Vise-Grip pliers or a wrench. (But beware; those special jaws make this tool less versatile than the standard Vise-Grip pliers.) Be sure to get the size you need. It has been my experience that using the wrong size, even though the fastener may fit, increases the risk of rounding off the corners of the fastener. These "wrenches" come in three different sizes. The smallest ( Vise-Grip 4LW 4" The Original Locking Wrench ) has a jaw capacity of 1/4" (6.4mm) to 9/16" (14.3mm) which is great for small fasteners on consumer electronics, toys, etc. The medium sized model (7LW) which is the subject of this review, has a jaw capacity of 7/16" (11mm) to 3/4" (19mm) which I find works well for most of the fasteners I encounter as a home-owner and hobbyist. I have not (yet) purchased the larger model ( Vise-Grip 10LW Locking Wrench with Wire Cutter ) which has a jaw capacity of 5/8" (15.9mm) to 1 1/8" (28.6mm). But it is on my wish list!

Jaws don't re-open when lock is released and handles are ...
Jaws don't re-open when lock is released and handles are opened. I've purchased other "Vise-Grip" products, both those made in Nebraska and this product from Taiwan. The others have jaws that open when the lock is released and the handles are opened. That is much more convenient than this one where the jaws remain closed. UPDATE: 16-11-2016 The product with the sticky (shut) jaws (Rated "Two stars") was returned and a replacement was ordered. The replacement works very well. Average the "Two-stars" for the first unit and "Five-stars" for the replacement, gives it a Four-star rating.

Solid Irwin heritage.
Really like how specific the design is. Kinda the locking plier I always needed. Nothing beats my Silver Eagle but these are a worthy successor.

Right tool for brake line fittings!!!
All these years fighting brake line fittings ... I wish I had found this tool sooner! I recently encountered some fittings that were galvanic corroded (steel line to aluminum EBCM). Penetrant, hot, cold with flare nut wrench ... Didn't budge. Vice grips ... Didn't budge. Got this tool and presto! All six loose in 5 minutes!!!

Paid for itself multiple times over
I've never written a review before, but for these, I just had to. They solved all the issues I had—both rear brake lines were rust-welded in tight. These vise grips allowed me to get a strong grip on a tiny bit of metal so I could snap it off and free the stuck brake lines. I was replacing my rear axle, and since the brake lines are mounted to the axle, I had to remove them. The brake lines run from the drums, along the axle, through a metal retaining bracket, and onto the chassis. The brake line nuts were so badly rusted that I resorted to sawing through the brackets just to free the brake lines and remove the axle. However, this left me with two brake line nuts stuck incredibly tightly, along with the remnants of the brackets still attached to the lines. I bought these vise grips without expecting much. I already had the correct flare nut spanner and had even purchased a beefy Bahco adjustable spanner, hoping it would solve my problem. Neither worked. However, these vise grips did. They grip incredibly tightly, allowing me to get a firm hold on three sides of the rusty brake line nut. I clamped the remnants of the bracket to the chassis and used these vise grips to wrench both nuts off. Then, I used the teeth portion of the vise grips to hold the bracket steady and, with some pliers, was able to fatigue the bracket until it broke away from the brake line. I also have a badly rounded axle nut that I plan to try these on. I’m not expecting them to work there, but it’s at least worth a shot. As other reviewers have mentioned, this is quite a niche-specific tool. If you intend to reuse the brake lines, these probably aren't for you, as they do bite into the nuts quite a bit. However, if you’re dealing with a stubborn or even rounded-off fixing, you should definitely consider these. I thought I’d be spending hours under my car struggling to remove the brake line nuts, but these made the process much quicker. Plus, I wasn’t constantly worrying about fully rounding off the nuts. If you work on older, rusty fasteners, these are a must-have.
