Expensive -- Worth It
This is the single best keyboard I have owned since the Northgate Omnikey from the 90s. I love this thing so much I feel like I need to write a song about it. For those who don't understand the reference to the Northgate Omnikey -- it was a wonderful, metal, durable, heavy keyboard that had an old AT interface. They were obnoxiously loud but soft to the touch and I've never found its equal since my PCs all went USB. If you type quickly (and I do), write software or otherwise abuse the daylights out of your keyboard, do yourself a favor and invest in this one. There's no "click" -- linear switches, which makes sense since they're Hall Effect/configurable. You don't want the key to have a "pop" if you can configure where the key activation point is. The software is fantastic -- it works in Linux without a hitch, as well as Windows/Mac (I don't own a mac, but having slid the switch to "mac" mode by accident thinking I was turning it off, I found keys remapped accordingly). On that re-mapping -- I hated the position of the Home key because my last keyboard had it on top rather than on the bottom of the row. I remapped it. To my surprise, it remained re-mapped into each OS/PC I connect to (my old keyboard required the software to do this). The configurable Hall Effect sensors have improved my typing accuracy *dramatically*. I don't type "perfectly" (often using my ring finger for everything on the right) but I can type at the speed you speak. My slight variation on perfect typing style mean that I occasionally slip on a key I don't intend on hitting. I often bumped CAPS LOCK intending for the Left Shift. Being able to tweak the activation point of the keys eliminated the effect of this imperfect landing and has resulted in fewer times having to hit the backspace key. The keys are light to the touch, quiet, and satisfying. The ability to remap every key on the keyboard is fantastic (my last keyboard omitted the non-letter/numeric keys which meant it was impossible to add back in the "End" key -- something I use frequently). The software really shines on this thing, though. It's fast; no lag in switching modes. It's easy to understand and doesn't come with surprises. The firmware update process was a little involved, but not difficult, just surprising since everything else is of the "It Just Works(tm)" variety. The keys *hug* your fingers. They're not the flat angled squares of typical keyboards. That makes moving from key to key much less likely to result in bumping the wrong key; it really just feels nice to rest your fingers on. The lighting effects are neat and the battery seems to last forever. I'm on over a week of constant use without needing to plug-in. I really have no idea how long this thing is supposed to last between charges but it's long enough that I haven't had to think about it. It's *heavy* -- I was a little surprised by that -- most keyboards are cheap plastic crap that bend/weigh nothing. This weighs more than my laptop. That isn't a disadvantage for me -- I don't travel with it, it stays in one place. And that's the thing I hadn't really noticed that was annoying about my last keyboard -- it drifted all over the desktop when I typed. This *stays in one place* until I move it *on purpose*. If you want a little exercise, hold it in your hand with your arms extended -- makes a nice little free weight. :) It would make a great weapon in the event that someone breaks into my house while I'm working. I'd swing it around like a bat or use it as a shield for a bullet. While I'm not willing to test it, I doubt it would be damaged in the slightest. They got every little detail right except for the missing "End" key (not sure why that's so popular to do; especially given that this is a keyboard *with* a numpad, including that one extra key would have been nice). The knob is aluminum and sturdy -- it doesn't have any play when turning -- literally every other keyboard I've used this feels like a cheap plastic piece that bends when turned or pushed. I don't feel like I'm going to break this thing off when I use it; it's quite nice. Strongly recommend forking out the cash if you type a lot -- you won't regret it.

Everything I ever wanted and more
Finding the Keychron Q5 HE felt like some listen to exactly what I wanted. Wireless up 3 devices, 96% sized, backlit, media controls, macro support, and oh ya it also has hall effect for amazing gaming experience. This is my first truly high-end keyboard. My last keyboard was Logitech G915 w/clicky style keys, while marketed to high-end keyboard the Keychron shows this was not the case. The sound and feel is night and day there is a solid sound but it is also buttery smooth and it can even be configured via software to be quite if you need it to due to being able to adjust the actuation point. If you are coming from other high-end keyboards these switches might feel a little soft but I would guess all HE switches are like that. There is no software to download it works directly with a browser app to configure but it does take some time to get use. I have this connected to the 3 devices as stated support and switches fast without issues, I loved being able to remap the command key in mac profile to match my primary windows setup. My only minor compliant is that to wake it up when wireless you have to hit the spacebar before it reconnects others keys do not work. Last point you should know is this think is a brick the 4.8 lbs is no joke

Premium keyboard with excellent feel, software, and performance
This keyboard is expensive, but the quality fully justifies the price. I’m typing this review on it right now and the typing experience feels excellent — smooth, responsive, and extremely precise. The Hall Effect rapid trigger implementation works exactly as advertised, and the overall build quality feels solid and premium. Connectivity has been reliable, and the software experience stands out. Firmware updates are frequent, easy to apply, and clearly maintained, which adds long-term value. Customization options are strong, and everything works as expected without hassle. The board looks great, feels comfortable for long sessions, and delivers a very refined typing experience. If you want a high-end keyboard with modern features and strong ongoing support, this is absolutely worth it. Easily a 10/10 product.

Fantastic keyboard, heavy as a boat anchor, and just as solid, and hall effect switches.
This is the most solid keyboard I've ever felt, even more solid than the old IBM mechanicals from the 80's and 90's. It's heavy and metal. Takes some effort and paying attention to pick up one handed, we're talking ANCHOR here. The lag is minimal from testing I've read, super easy to use and program with the online configurator, which is nice as you don't need to install yet More software just to have a keyboard, and once it's programmed, it's saved onboard, so if you switch computers you still have your settings just fine. The backlight is south-facing, so if you're expecting lighted keycap legends, well, don't. Even with keycaps I've gotten for south-facing led's just don't light up much, most lettering is shifted to the top, so lights don't get through at all, but the one south-facing (centered) design still doesn't light up much. Also the initial keycap colors, white center black outer, is ugly as hell to me. These two issues almost cost it a star, but really they're not all that important. I'd give it a 4.5 if it was an option. The battery life... I've not run out of battery yet, but the longest I've used it not plugged in was a few days, I usually just leave it plugged in unless I'm hauling it to my office with me. All in all though, from my research and personal use, this keyboard is great, one of the very few that actually use the magnetic hall-effect switches to good effect, no added latency, the rapid triggering and quick release actually works and very well. I've kept looking and still not found a better board, so long as you want a heavy solid keyboard. Just plan ahead on better keycaps, unless you Like the black and white and red looks.

Fantastic Keyboard All Around
Legitimately the nicest keyboard I've had. The double gasket mount, Full aluminum frame, and magnetic switches make this board feel and sound amazing. The Keychron web utility works great and is very user friendly. The magnetic switches allow for rapid trigger and custom actuation points, which is nice to have. Battery life is solid and you can customize the sleep settings for the RGB backlighting. If you've never had a magnetic switch board before, this one is very much worth the money. One thing to be aware of is that this thing is heavy; definitely not a travel board. Added some custom Keychron key caps and a wrist rest to round mine out 👌

On another level...
So I have an "older" Keychron K4 v3 (think that is the version) that I've had for a couple years. I was upgrading my PC system so I wanted to splurge on a good keyboard. The Keychron Q5 HE is an AMAZING BOARD!! The build quality of the Q series is off the chart, this thing is a TANK! You can bang away on this keyboard all day and you are not going to end up moving it. I have been using the 2.4ghz wireless connectivity and its been 100% rock solid with zero noticeable input lag. The typing experience with the Hall Effect switches is just like nothing I've ever experienced. This board feels like you are typing on clouds, its absolutely amazing. The keys are pretty much silent, more "thud" then clicking unless you end up really bottoming out the key when typing. I've honestly not typed on anything remotely close to the way this board feels, its amazing. The web based software/configuration is also super nice, makes setup and the configuration of the keys a piece of cake. 100% would recommend this board without question. Friend of mine, who is a keyboard nerd, tried my Q5 HE and was floored. This coming from a guy who has custom built many keyboards, but never a Hall Effect board. He bought the K4 HE Special Edition the next day... If you are thinking about it, just do it, you won't regret it and I'm fairly confident this keyboard will last for a really long time.

My first HE keyboard and I like it.
The quality of this keyboard is great from the frame to the switches and the keycaps I like everything about it. It even sounds great when typing and the case has quite a bit of weight to it. I really like the fact that I can just use a webpage to adjust all the settings on the keyboard and I don't need to download any special programs on my PC. Can't say to much about the battery life since I use it in wired mode all the time. The RBG is nice and bright in my opinion and there are some decent options for RGB effects. Took me a min to figure out how to do the macros and such but once I got a hang of it it's quite easy to add and remove macros. The 3 buttons over the number are quite nice since you can make them do whatever functions you want. Also the fact that it's a 96% layout is nice it's hard to find a good keyboard now a days with a number pad and I missed my number pad. I know there a few out there but to me some of them felt cheap but this one feels like quality.

Thocky!
Love it! Keychron has great options for custom keycaps, too. I have long almond shaped nails and the keys are easy to type without even needing bubble stickers. Connecting to my laptop was quick and painless.

Keyboard sounds great keys are super nice. Very heavy, key caps feel very nice/smooth imo. So much nicer than my old mechanical one. Get a wrist wrest tho as it is high and doesn’t come with one. Software is easy to navigate and user friendly
