Velbon QB5L Quick Release

I did some research before purchasing the quick release because my tripod is very old. It fits very well just like the original and it looks just like the original. The advertisement picture does not show the cork but it is just like the original with the cork.

Just received this, and promptly installed it onto the tripod without a camera first. It's a snug fit and with the dual dovetail you can rotate the quick release 180 degrees and re-clamp it without detaching the device, which is nice and practical.The cork is somewhat stiff so I'm hoping that it will form itself to the ridges beneath my camera over time since the latching pin has no slot to fit into on my camera.Said latching pin is spring-loaded and somewhat adjustable from beneath via machine screw (slotted screwdriver necessary) and already pre-tensionned with locktite (removeable) on the threads. It's really not something you have to bother with since there isn't much adjustment anyways..

Not long ago I picked up a used Albinar 9900 tripod at an estate sale. It was in the carrying/storage bag so aside from doing a quick check of the condition (like new), I did not notice it was missing the quick release with the bolt for holding a camera... and the price was right so it didn't occur to me to look for it. After bringing it home I realized the quick release was missing.... so I did a search online and found this! I own several cameras so I bought two of them. They work great and I can leave them on the cameras making it easier to do a quick swap.

The picture is a little deceiving because the cork on the pad isn't thick or as tan. Therefore, I think it's over priced. Also the underbelly where you screw the camera to the base it's difficult. It's basically like a really screw instead of ones that have the latch you can twist. Other than that, it works well and fits my older model Velbon CX 680. I have Rebel T3i and it sits on it with no issues.

I have a 15 year old tripod that is very sturdy, and since I do not use it a lot, it is perfect for my needs. However, I lost the quick release attachment for the camera and feared I would have to buy a new tripod.This item came to my rescue. It works perfectly. Cannot believe I could replace an item for a tripod that is so old.THANK YOU!

It’s a genuine velbon plate. It works well and locks in tight on my s-900 video tripod and releases easily as well. It’s not cheap, but I couldn’t find a better price.

Product is fine but didn’t quite fit my tripod which it was claim it would

So I found a RCA 4600 tripod at a vintage store, but it had no quick release. I went to SAMY's camera store and they didn't have a fit and it was difficult to figure out the correct one. Searched places and websites like a madman. Eventually I found a website that gave me the number QB5L.It was like finding a gold coin in the sand. I found it on Amazon which I previously couldn't because I didn't have that number. The seller discount1965 not only had it but it was a great value and was shipped straight to the mailbox. It fits my Nikon onto the tripod like a glove. I'm shocked I found this friggin thing. Stoked!

Original mount sprouted legs and vanished! Nice having my trusty tripod serviceable again! Seems it may be a 3D printed copy; I recall original was cast metal...may be mistaken.
