Stylish machine that works fantastic
I’ve been really enjoying this Gemilai Owl espresso machine. The first thing I noticed was how nice it looks. It has a clean, retro style and looks great on my counter. It also feels solid and well made. It heats up fast and makes great espresso with good flavor and crema. The pressure gauge is easy to read and helpful if you’re still learning. The steam wand is strong and works well for making lattes once you get the hang of it. There is a short break in period at the beginning, but after a few uses it runs smoothly. Overall it’s easy to use, easy to clean, and very consistent. I’m happy with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good home espresso machine.

Great espresso machine for everyday life
Great Espresso Machine for Home I’m really happy with this espresso machine! It has a beautiful, elegant design and looks great on my kitchen counter. The espresso comes out rich and smooth, and the steam wand makes it easy to froth milk for cappuccinos and lattes. I also really like the dual-display setup, which makes the machine feel more professional and easier to use. The removable water tank is convenient for refilling and cleaning as well. Overall, it’s a great option if you want to enjoy café-style coffee at home without spending a fortune on a complicated machine. Definitely a nice addition to my morning coffee routine!

Nice upgrade from Stilosa or Bambino
Really love the unique shiny look of this machine, great quality and build! Old cafe style look with modern features. Aluminum body which isnt the greatest for heat retention but when powered on for at least 10 mins, heats everything up including the portafilter when attached. Included portafilter is definitley of good quality and feels heavy. I got a bottomless one as well to see how my shots are coming out. Makes great espressos. Temperature is pretty consistent throughout when pulling a shot, although it may be a couple degrees less than what it's set to but can easily compensate by setting a couple degrees higher. Steam is very strong in this machine! It almost heats the milk a little too fast so be careful with small quantities of milk not to scorch them. Not sure if its just my machine. But it's great at making steamed and froth milk of at least 150ml, I still need to refine my technique. Too bad there isn't a setting to adjust steam temperature, only negative I would say about this espresso machine so far. Love the programable buttons for single and double shot. I came from a delonghi stilosa and I love the semi automatic features of this machine. No problems so far! I tried the bambino (not plus) before getting this and it couldn't get hot enough when pulling certain shots in an unpressurized basket and especially not hot enough for light roasted beans. Light roasted beans in this machine have been much better by adjusting the temp to about 208F because of the slight offset and grinding finer than dark/medium beans. Easy to wipe clean with it's smooth metal surface. I would say it's a little quieter than my old stilosa but not as quiet as the bambino, but noise has never been an issue for me for espresso machines. It's definitely bigger than my older stilosa and bambino but still fits on my counter with ample room above it. I just have to pull the machine forward to remove the water reservoir and refill it which is pretty standard for most espresso machines

Looks cute, feels cheap
The machine itself looks cute and could probably make good espresso, but i was very disappointed with how cheap it feels. It’s such a lightweight machine which is a nice thought, but because of its lightness I had to hold the entire machine down just to get the portafilter in and out. Returned it and went right back to my trusty breville!

Very pleased with this purchase
Very pleased with this purchase. I was a bit apprehensive about going with a less popular brand, but both Amazon and external video reviews were generally positive. I was torn between this machine and the Gaggia Classic, but the number of features on the Gemilai—without the need for modifications—ultimately outweighed the risk. Having a gift card to offset some of the out-of-pocket cost also made the decision easier. The machines I’ve used over the past several years include, most recently, a Cavdle to bridge the gap after my Breville Duo Temp quite literally blew up. Prior to that, I owned a DeLonghi and an older, unknown steam-based boiler machine. I really appreciate the versatility of this machine. It offers a wide range of adjustments without being overly complicated, and I was able to dial in some very nice shots fairly quickly after delivery. The temperature adjustment is excellent. I’m fairly certain my previous machines never reached adequate temperature. The group head heating element warms up quickly and does a great job of heating the portafilter while I’m grinding beans. I also love having the ability to adjust pre-infusion duration. That said, I wish I could adjust the soak time on the preprogrammed shot buttons. The default behavior is about a one-second burst of water, followed by a pause for the remainder of the pre-infusion, then full pump pressure. Using the manual button allows for a true low-pressure soak throughout the entire pre-infusion time. It would be great if that initial soak time were adjustable on the preprogrammed buttons as well. The built-in shot timer is another great feature. I no longer have to start the machine and a separate timer at the same time. The steam wand is very powerful, and I’m still working on mastering how to introduce air without overdoing it. Cooldown time from steaming back to pulling a shot is fairly long, so making multiple milk drinks takes some planning unless you pull two shots first and steam milk for both at once. My only real complaint is the drip tray. It isn’t very deep and needs to be emptied frequently, which isn’t much different from other machines I’ve owned. The bigger issue is that it’s shallow and the metal cover is easily displaced when wiping it with a towel. When purging the group head, the hot water causes the cover to expand slightly and warp, making it even easier to knock out of place. Additionally, the float that indicates a full tray comes loose easily, falls off its mount, and ends up rolling around under the cover. None of this is a deal breaker—just a minor annoyance. Overall, I would gladly pay full price for this machine based on my experience so far. I did immediately upgrade to a nicer tamper, puck screen, and dosing funnel. The included tamper is 58 mm, but the basket is closer to 58.5 mm, which leaves the edges of the puck mostly untamped. A slightly larger tamper is definitely recommended. All in all, I’m very happy with this machine. Long-term durability remains to be seen.

Acknowledging the product's value proposition, it is essential that the delivered functionality meets the advertised specifications. Initial testing of the espresso machine revealed a failure to adequately heat the group head, resulting in lukewarm water output despite the device registering 95 degrees Celsius. This discrepancy compromises the consistency of espresso shots, as the portafilter's temperature is critical for optimal extraction, leading to unsatisfactory results. Furthermore, the temperature display in Celsius, rather than Fahrenheit, presented an inconvenience. Subsequent interactions with gemilai customer service proved unproductive, prompting engagement with Amazon's customer service, which offered a replacement unit. Regrettably, the replacement machine exhibited the same group head heating issue, failing to achieve the required temperature even after extended operation. While the replacement did dispense hot water, the group head remained warm to the touch. Based on these experiences, I recommend exploring alternative products before making a purchase.

Very light but a good value
UPDATE: So after a week with it its going back. The warm up in the morning just takes far too long. And by the time it has warmed up it seems to switch back to ECO mode. The time to cool down after foaming is also an issue. I really wanted to like this machine as it seems to have a lot of features, but in the end there are just too many drawback IMO. Overall pretty happy with this. My Impresa C-5 is dying after about 12 years and I really did not want to spend 1000+ on a replacement. Yeah it pays for itself over time, but the super automatics just have too much that can go wrong with them and they don't make them all that well anymore. The coffee from a super automatic is decent but not great IMO. After looking at a bunch of options I decided to go with this as it had a 15-bar pump and some nice options for a $400 machine. The only issue I have with it is its very light which makes it hard to load the porta filter without touching the heating element. That is a bit of a drawback IMO. And the heating element gets really hot :( I'll try it for a few more days - in the end I may have to return it - its just too light. The frothing wand is very strong, but the time to heat up and cool off is a bit long IMO. One other thing - you will need to get a really good coffee grinder for this to work well. Even at its finest setting my current grinder will not hit 9 bars of pressure, so I am not getting a perfect shot of espresso. It's good but not as good as it can be. So plan to spend at least 100 to 200 on a grinder.

Excellent Value Espresso Machine with Great Performance
I’ve been using the Gemilai Owl G3006 Espresso Machine for 2days now, and I’m honestly impressed. For the price, it delivers café-quality espresso at home. The 58mm portafilter and stable pressure make a big difference in shot consistency, and the dual display is super helpful for dialing in my brew. The steam wand is powerful and easy to use—even for beginners, it creates smooth microfoam for lattes. I also love how customizable the settings are, especially the pre-infusion and temperature control, which really help bring out the flavor of different beans. Overall, this machine offers amazing value and performance. Highly recommended for anyone looking to upgrade their home coffee setup without breaking the bank!
