Functions as Intended
This is a review for: "Fatwood Fire Starter Sticks -100% All Natural Resin Kindling and Chips -Quick Ignition for Fireplace,Campfires,Firepits,Wood Stoves,Grilling (10.70 LB)"This comes sealed at the seams with tape and once you open it you are immediately greeted with a nice aroma. The sticks seem to be roughly the same size as the starter sticks i'm accustomed to purchasing at my local hardware store. I considered this to be an expensive purchase however after considering that a small bundle at the hardware store is grossly overpriced, this large box is a great deal. I am unsure how others typically start their fires but this comes with some small chips to help get it started. I use a plumbing instant pull trigger torch to start my fires and these small stick start very easily using that with a MAP can attached.

Works really well to start a fire in the fireplace, smells nice while going
Putting two of the thin sticks and some of the chipped pieces under the actual firewood logs works really well. Also, they smell pretty good, like a pine type smell while they burn.

Makes starting a fire quick and effortless.
These fatwood sticks are perfect for cranking up the wood stove—no more wasting time crumpling paper or struggling to get a fire going. They light up quickly and burn hot, which makes getting the wood stove going a total breeze. Even with larger logs, a couple of these sticks do the trick, saving me time and frustration.I also really appreciated the inclusion of the chips. They’re a nice touch for when you just need a little extra help getting things started or want to keep a fire building smoothly. Between the sticks and the chips, starting fires has become so much easier and more reliable, whether it’s for the stove, a firepit, or even campfires. It’s also great knowing these are 100% natural, with no weird chemicals or additives. You get all the benefits of the natural resin, which lights quickly and burns steadily without any unpleasant smells. If you’re tired of fiddling with newspaper or unreliable kindling, this is a fantastic solution. It’s simple, natural, and works like a charm every single time.

Fatwood burns well
It's a big ol' pack of fatwood - what else do you expect?. It burns easily and quickly. Great for tinder/starting fires. I like that you get mostly thick sticks, but also a small pile of shavings. I don't think the shavings are really necessary, but it's an interesting addition.

Great for fireplaces
Now that it is winter I use my fireplace. This is real helpful in getting the fire started. Easy to use, just put a couple in under the fireplace logs with some chips, and light. It also has a nice aroma. I plan on taking these camping this summer as well.

Slow to catch fire
These are thick fatwood sticks. In the past, I have only used thinner fatwood sticks, which would light up quickly when starting a fire in our wood burning stove. But these don't catch fire until a fire is well underway, although then they burn nicely. And since one would presumably get these to help start a fire, I would look elsewhere. But if you need these to add some zing to hot coals (i.e., not flames) and can wait until the stick catches fire before adding more firewood, then these are for you. I did a side by side test (thinner other brand vs this one) to confirm my initial impression.

This really is a hot deal!
a) Arrived well packaged and complete. b) I have used Fatwood sticks before, but never had the included chips. c) With just a pinchful of chips, and a couple sticks on top , you can start most fires easily. I didn't even need newspaper to start it. d) If you look at the price of this box, and evaluate it based on the time and energy you put into starting your campfires, and the fact that you likely have enough "reliability" in this single box to last an entire season ( as I mentioned I only use two sticks to get the bigger fire roaring) ...I believe you will find it to be a high value purchase.

Fatwood starters are the best
I’ve used the wax/parrafin/wood chip fire starters for years, and they work well enough. It seems like I always need more than I think or they don’t quite get hot enough to quickly get a fire going. Fatwood burns so much hotter. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s from the stump of a pine tree, and absolutely soaked in pine resin, which burns really hot. It’s also waterproof. The flakes are perfect to take in a zip lock bag and use for fire starter when camping. And they smell nice, like Christmas pine trees.
