Veterinarian recommended pheremone spray for dogs
Have used this with reliable good results for anxiety and calming in dogs, whether as D.A.P. (the original dog appeasing pheremones) or Comfort Zone/Adaptil in sprays, collars, and plug-in diffusers. The plug-in diffusers are the best, because they treat a whole room, but have to be replaced monthly. The collars work similarly, and have to be replaced monthly. Both the plug-ins and the collars are great for separation anxiety, traveling or moving, thunderstorm phobias, etc. The spray is more appropriate for localized use, such as in a kennel before crating a dog, in a travel carrier or in the car before a trip, or in an area of phobia or stress related marking behaviors. The spray lasts from one to a few days and can be reapplied sooner, just not directly on the dog. It does have a slight alcohol odor, not too objectionable, that the plug-ins and the collars don't have, but it dissipates relatively quickly. Overall, all the Comfort Zone/Adaptil products are great hands-off behavioral tools for use in a wide variety of situations where pheremones would be effective. I am a veterinarian with decades of experience so I would know. Highly recommend!!

Keep calm...and spray on!
I have an Afghan Hound with moderate anxiety. He is afraid of noise, which is an issue because I live in a big city. He does not like loud cars (or car rides), construction, or strangers. He also has separation anxiety and a fear of new environments. He has been going to a Behavior Specialist and we've adjusted meds to about a 50-60% improvement. She recently suggested spraying Adaptil on a bandana when he's going to be in a stressful situation (car rides, guests visiting, vet appts). This may not be the right solution for everyone...but I have personally seen an extremely positive improvement in his anxiety. He no longer pants in the car, or is hypervigilant on walks. He's actually welcoming and inquisitive of guests in my home. I place 10 sprays on a bandana, wait 10 minutes, and place it around his neck. It works for several hours. I am extremely pleased with his response and reduction in anxiety. I have already purchased a few more bottles to keep in my car, purse etc. Each dog is different, and it may not be a "cure all"; but I'm convinced this has been huge help to my dog...and worth every penny for the peace it brings my sweet furry boy! :)

Simply miraculous
Purchased because we adopted 12 week old Pom puppy who turned out to be most neurotic Pom ever. She cried nonstop, night and day, even while eating, with no sign of any decrease over the first three weeks. She startled easily and shook every time we put her in car. Everyone in the household was sleep deprived, out of patience, and irritable. Called vet in desperation and she suggested DAP. I was skeptical and also not a fan of“medicating” dogs. But I purchased this spray and an Adaptil puppy collar. I sprayed nighttime bed/crate. The first night she slept for a record five hours straight. Every night thereafter she slept an hour longer until she hit 8 hours. She now consistently sleeps as long as we do.She still had separation anxiety during the day, but over three weeks of use that has started to steadily subside. If I do not spray the car seat before travel, she shakes nonstop. If I spray it, no shaking. All dogs are different, but for us this has been a godsend to help us build trust with our new nervous nellie of a pup. From the reviews, there seems to be a wide variety of responses— I can’t help but wonder if it is dose-related. I suggest that you not be stingy with the spray. We are very liberal when spraying crate, car seat, bed, etc.

you definitely need to combine it with other things like the collars and more excercise
I use this product for a very high seperation anxiety rat terrier. This product combined with an Adaptil collar has made a world of difference. It takes about a week to kick in but my dog has gone from barking non-stop while I was gone, to dead silence. It is not a fix all or a light switch. you definitely need to combine it with other things like the collars and more excercise. But I will be purchasing this product many more times. My only complaint is it goes quickly! I have had it for just over a week and the bottle is already half gone and I am only using 4-5 sprays a day before I leave for work.

Wonderful for anxiety
This spray works wonders for my anxious lab. I spray it on a bandanna and put it around her neck. I also spray strategic spots around the room. She visibly relaxes. I haven't had an incident of destructive chewing when I had used this spray prior to leaving. Be sure to use it at other (non-stressful) times too so the spray itself doesn't become a trigger.

Really helps!
My red heeler mix has terrible thunder phobia, to the point of damaging things & himself trying to get away from it. I've tried everything to help him, but finally had to get a doggie tranquilizer from the vet. Even with that, he gets very upset during thunder. This spray had an immediate helpful effect on him. He seems to recognize it and his panting actually slows down. I still use the tranquilizer, the 'thunder-shirt', and stay with him when I can, but this stuff really helps!

Works well for my nervous pup
This was recommended by my veterinarian. My dog gets so nervous at the vet that we can't get a decent blood pressure on her. I spray this on a blanket and let her ride on the blanket on the way to the vet. In 15 minutes she's calm and less anxious/shaking. There is not really a scent to the spray. My vet says it the pheromones last for about 4-5 hours. We also use it on her bedding for her 1st day when we are boarding her. A very helpful product. It's great!
