Good device, poor support by some apps though
I have mixed feelings on it. For the most part it does what I want... It reads a barcode and types input. The program (an Android App) I wanted to use it with does some weird stuff. I've been dealing with barcode readers for > 20 years now. This should have just worked. It does in other Android programs. But the one program charged another $50 to 'enable' barcode reader support (uh, it's just a keyboard), and then needed another $50 program to get the 2 to talk. There really was no reason for this... It worked in other Android programs as a keyboard just fine. But that's really about the program and not this device itself...As for the device it's a little klunky feeling, and I don't like not being able to turn off or down the beep. It's annoyingly loud. Researching it, others say the same thing so I'm not alone there. Some have gone so far as open it up and cut the speaker wire! A couple layers of thick (3M #22) electrical tape cut down the volume.I also liked that it came with rechargeable batteries and a charger. And unlike the other reviewer, mine worked just fine with fresh alkaline batteries.

IMO the beep is too loud
I've used my scanner a couple times now and I like it. I decided on this particular scanner based on price. It was also recommended as a great first or beginner scanner. There are 2 complaints I have with it. First is that it seems inconsistent. I will pick up one bar code in .5 seconds and the next bar code it takes a very long time, and sometimes will not read it at all. It is a bit frustrating. even when it takes a long time to read the bar code it's still faster than my phone. The second is I'm unable to turn off or turn down the beep. I would like to turn it down while I'm at the library store or an estate sale, a little volume control on it would be great the beep is too loud for my taste.

Small but does a mighty job
It maybe a small scanner but it does a mighty big/great job. It powers down to save on battery (AWESOME), stores memory for inventory and for us this is an amazing part of the Hamswan CT20 scanner. I do not have to stay at the cash register to ring someone up or wheel the product around the counter. I need to order a few more for when I have a sell. Thank you for the speedy delivery as well.

DO NOT BUY THIS
PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS SCANNER. It's a total waste of money, time and energy. It sucks down batteries but the WORST part: IT SUCKS AT SCANNING!!! It's pattern recognition skills and it's inability to work under anything but pristine conditions and preferred media surfaces makes this worthless. It was easy to pair with my android but that's when the fun stopped. I found that it can scan less than half of the bar codes I was attempting and the ones it did scan often took 3 or 4 timeout attempts (30-40 seconds) gyrating the stupid thing around. And this was indoors in low light with clean and crisp bar codes. I could probably type in ISBN's faster than this thing. If you're going to buy a Bluetooth scanner just suck it up and be prepared to spend twice as much. The time and aggravation you'll save yourself will be worth it after a few sessions with a product that works.I ordered the "Arkscan Ecom Series ES301" and if that doesn't work I'll just mortgage the house and get the ones that everyone recommended to start with.
