Leon Garfield's Shakespeare Stories (New York Review Books Children's Collection)

This single volume, which combines the late Leon Garfield’s retellings of Shakespeare’s stories (Shakespeare Stories & Shakespeare Stories II), is an excellent source for beginners in Shakespeare. I bought Garfield’s books in separate volumes when they were first published and enjoyed them very much, particularly the mix of dialogue and narrative. It’s a shame that Garfield never brought out a third volume, so that all of Shakespeare’s tales could have been included. Five stars easily, for I don’t think there are more engaging and accessible retellings of the great bard’s tales than Garfield has provided here.I hope you find my review helpful.
