Excellent Piece of Kit, Well Made, a Fair Price, Looks as if It Will Last, It Works Well, Wish I Had Bought Years Ago.
Absolutely Brilliant and worth EVERY pfennink.Well made, well finished and comes with all the bits you need to fit to (I would guess) almost every petrol rotary mower. Easy to set up and fit to the underside of your rotary mower, in fact the hardest bit was removing the original blade). After last Winter with the never ending rain my lawn is more moss than grass even though the grass is there if I search for it. I have been practisingom a small area away from the house and the first thing to say is lift the cutting base to its highest level - try it - lower it a notch and try again - lower it another notch - you get the idea. To you start with the normal cutting height that your would use for the grass cutting blade you will will have no moss and no grass either - a new take on a scorched earth policy !But does it work - oh-yes, it does. Now I have only done a small practice patch because I was eager to have a go. Better to use the dethatching tool when the soil is reasonably dry and the moss is dry, this way you will scarify with less chance of damaging the grass roots and the scotch will be easier to collect and compact in the collection box. You will be amazed at just how much moss will come up so make sure your council green bin is empty before you start.I am actually looking forward to doing the whole lawn towards the end of April (I was going to moss kill and weed and feed mid April but decided against this - see edit later) and not having to use arm and back muscles that are only taken on an outing increasingly rarely these days - to use a lawn rake to remove moss, or even one of those scarifiers on wheels (I have used both over the years) is not the way to go. This scarifying attachment IS the way to shift the moss, just start with a high setting and then lower to what you will see is an 'optimum' position - a bit of trial and error.Worth the money - YES definitely. The delivery was much faster than advertised as well. All in all, a pretty damn fine addition to the tool store in the garden shed. Wish I had bought one years ago and saved on the embrocation for the back.EDIT 19th April 2016Now based on experience of doing the whole lawn not just the test area which I did earlier. Scarified the lawn properly this time (I tried it back in Feb but it was really too early and wet). What can I say but it is still hard work but nowhere near a tiring and as long as scarifying and moss removing the 'traditional' way with a back braking lawn rake. Here's the secret:-1. Cut the lawn and use the scarifier when the grass is dry but not when it is scorched dry or you could damage the grass roots.2. Mow the grass short first, it will really save on the amount you will bring up when you switch to the scarifier.3. I positioned the scarifier to one blade lever higher than my normal cut because the tines that stick down off the red blade are much lower than the cutting blade. For me this brought the tines down to just above the soil level so that it will remove most of the moss and de-thatch the rank grass very nicely.4. I needed two mowing's with the scarifier one up and down the lawn and the second at either 45 or 90 degrees to the first, this ensures a comprehensive scarifying so you don't miss any bits which is easy to do because only about half the arising's are lifted into the grass bag. If you scarify when the lawn is wet you will end up with an unpleasant mush.5. Replaced the blade again and mowed the lawn on the mowers normal setting. It took a second mow to pick up all the arising's.I thought long and hard about applying the moss killer, weed and feed before I used the scarifier and decided against it. The experts will tell you to do this first so that the moss is dead but I found that if you practice getting the tines on the scarifier set just right you will het up almost the moss leaving only the odd bare patch. I will apply the 3 in one moss weed and feed as soon as it looks as if we will get a reasonable wet and frost free patch. That's it really. It took 2 hours from start to finish on a lawn size of approx. 400 square metres, you still work up a thirst but at least that's it intil next year : )Andy

Excellent performance with wide range of fittings.
I was about to manufacture a scarifier blade for my Husquvarna LC347V from a retired blade but saw this and as Oregon is a trusted product I have used for several years I purchased the blade. I had previously scarified our lawn by hand and it was not consistent. I fitted this blade using the wide range of inserts appropriate for my mower and after checking it ran balanced and I had sufficient range in the under deck clearance, I proceeded to scarify the lawn. Its performance was excellent and did a great job, consistently good and the blade ran balanced. Very effective. Appreciating I may only use this twice a year it is a useful addition to the mulching blade and insert I also use. I had confidence in the manufacturer and felt this was a low risk purchase. The numerous centre inserts indicated this has been designed to meet a wide range of lawn mowers. The springs are very reasonable and will last for a long time is my initial assessment. The blade comes in black, not red and is a high quality manufactured item. Recommended.

Good item but Tine wear out quickly
Blade new nice and solid. Come with adapters to fit mower bolts. Disappointed in how quickly the tines wear out as could only complete 1/2 my garden. Also it doesn't have a high lift to dispatch the grass and moss in to to the catcher.

Excellent. Does what it says on the box
Arrived promptly. 10 minutes to remove cutting blade and fit scarifier.Experimented with cut height, starting very high, reducing a notch at a time until the effective cut was 2.5cms ish. I then scarifier my fairly wet lawn of 150 sq m, pushing my Honda 52cm rotary petrol mower slowly with no grass box (fills/clogs instantly if fitted) blowing the scarified thatch onto the already cut side. My grass was maybe 4cms long initially, with moss, long runners, dead stuff ... ie moderate thatch. Grass rake/wheelbarrow to collect initial 1.5 cu m cuttings, then repeat 2 more times using same height setting as it naturally rides lower, maybe just 0.75 cu m. Result as per picture. I'll use miracle-gro lawn treatment to suppress any remaining moss, weeds and feed the grass. Looking forward to a beautiful green lawn in the spring!

Excellent item, beats raking!
Was slightly sceptical of how effective this would be on my lawn but i can safely say it does what it's intended to do. Had quite a lot of thatch in my grass & with it being 110m2 there a rake is just not practical. This took all of 2 minutes to fit & after a couple of full passes i was amazed at how much thatch this thing removed.Start at the highest height & lower the height so the prongs are working but the blade isn't butchering the grass. To collect all the thatch when you pop on your regular blade & set it to your normal cut height and go over the lawn. The lawn will look messy for a couple of weeks but the long term benefits of doing this are well worth it.If you intend on overseeing your grass this is a must before you do it.

Great quality de-Thatcher
Really sorted out the thatch in my lawns - Need to elevate the blade by pushing down on the mower handle when stopping & turning or you get circles in the grass and travel at a fast walk when on staight runs. Really Pleased with the delivery time.

Works great
I bought this to replace a broken one. Well made, thick metal blade, should hold its shape and balance. Springs are heavy gauge and should last a long time. The function was perfect.

Past vrijwel op alle grasmaaiers
Werkt perfect, afstand tot het gras is ook goed. Wel opletten dat je de veertjes niet verkeerd om monteert. Geeft zelfde resultaat als mijn elektrische verticuteer machine.
