Colorado Excursions with History, Hikes and Hops

So many great ideas for enjoyable and adventurous CO outings! Can’t wait to check out several that were highlighted. Makes a nice looking and fun to read book for the coffee table too :)

This is a *fantastic* book! And don't let the title put you off - I don't drink *or* hike, and this book has already been a treasure trove of interesting information for me, and I'm already planning several day trips based on the information it contains!The book is laid out in regional bites (for example, Denver, Greeley to Ft. Collins, Idaho Springs to Central City, etc.) so that you can plan a day trip, and take in historic sites and scenes along the way, as well as at your destination. Some of the historic sites that immediately grabbed my interest include Doc Holliday's grave, the Museum of Colorado Prisons, the Sand Creek Massacre site (important to remember these events), and the Museum of the American Cowboy. And there are so many more.But beyond that, the "hiking" locations are actually "natural sites", many of which don't require hiking to appreciate their beauty and appeal, and the "hops" sites (i.e. places you can get a drink) are often themselves historically (or otherwise) very interesting even for someone who doesn't drink (like me). For example, Garden of the Gods is a must see site of stunning natural beauty, and a winery at a Benedictine monastery!This is a great book for *anyone* either living in or visiting Colorado and who wants to do some great, interesting day trips, whether they hike or not, and whether they drink beer or other alcohol or not!

Gave this as a gift to a beer loving, hiking, CO enthusiast. Great pictures and great excursions. I liked it so much I might buy one for myself.
