ThermoMaven 1 Sec Professional Digital Meat Thermometer, ±0.5℉ Accuracy

This has been a favorite at our house. We have given our sons each one and they have been using this Digital Meat Thermometer as well. It's easy to read and works well with all meats. The price is great!!!!

I love this meat thermometer! This must be something like the 10th digital thermometer that I have purchased over the years. I have never been happy with any of the previous thermometers. This is mainly because all previous digital thermometers were physically flimsy and they practically start coming loose the moment it is released from the packaging. This one is different. It is sturdy. What do I like? 1. Ergonomics - a. One turns this on simply by unfolding the sensor from its closed position against the body. Brilliant design! Simply useful. One turns it off by folding the sensor against the body. b. The size of the display is big enough to read without my prescription glasses. c. Bright enough to read temperature in daylight. 4. Solidly built. Everything is tight and feels rugged. It doesn't feel like it is going to break if I poke the meat too hard with the thermometer. The sensor is securely fastened to the rest of the thermometer and does not feel like it is getting ready to pop off. 5 I did not check accuracy but, my barbecue is coming out in a consistent predictable manner. I can't blame the equipment any more. 6. Reasonable price (at the time of purchase it was $17.99). I checked and one can buy it today for $17.97. It costs even less than what I paid! 7. To take a reading it is nearly instantaneous. 8. The actual reading is taken by the sensor at very close to the tip of the point. Once you understand this, one can precisely measure different areas of the meat with confidence. 9. I have now been using this for close to a year and it is holding up very well. I don't expect this to break any time soon. This is now my favorite manual digital thermometer!

Great thermometer, easy to use and read in all light settings; it is really fast and accurate in the temperature readings, and it is easy to clean. The strong magnet to attach to my fridge is also a plus for storage.

This is a nice thermometer! Things to love about it are as follows: -Instant “on” when you pull up the probe. -Your hand is further from the heat source. -FAST readout when probing meat. -Readout flips upright depending on how you hold it. -Appears to be made well, and is very reasonably priced. I absolutely would recommend this thermometer for anyone who cooks meat and want accurate readings for safeties-sake (chicken), or perfectly done streaks.

This comes in handy while grilling! Very easy to use and reliable. It’s just the right size and super durable. Highly recommend!

Love this! It registers the temp. instantly so I don't have to worry about losing too much heat when I open the oven door. It's great that it turns on as soon as you pull out the temperature prong and turns off when you return the prong. I could no longer read the numbers on my little, round thermometer and love that this one is so easy to read. The digital screen runs sideways down the side of the unit which makes it very easy to see when the thermometer is in the food. The fact that the temp readout stays on after you remove it from the meat is a great feature. I have been using it mainly when cooking salmon to make sure it is properly cooked. Great little gadget.

The product is sturdy and easy to handle. It turns off automatically when the probe is snapped back to the closed position with a click sound that confirms closure. It automatically turns on when the probe is released. There is a tinny button that converts the reading from F to C degrees. The is the only button that the device has. The LCD display is clear red and the digits are large and easy to read. The enclosure for the battery (one battery) is secured by a screw which is an excellent idea for this device, since it reduces the chance of accidentally dropping the battery cover and the battery. This adds sturdiness to the device. It is clearly a well-designed device. I did not yet test the accuracy or the speed of measurements.

Ok, wow! I would have thought that it would be difficult to be excited and impressed by a simple digital food thermometer, but ThermoMaven nailed it with this one! The packaging is plain, but includes a certificate for accuracy (mine was spot on), and has a AAA battery pre-installed. You're pretty much ready to go right out of the box (but wash the probe before sticking it into food!). The body of the thermometer feels really well made and has a little weight to it. It has both a magnetic back and a loop, so keeping it at the ready couldn't be easier. The display is a simple LED (red on black), with the digits being naturally lit so it can be used in any lighting condition. When you turn the unit upside down, the numbers of the display rotate! Brilliant! The readout is accurate to a single decimal place, and the reading is very fast (approx. 1 second). There is a simple "lock" button to hold the reading, but that's it for readout features. The probe can be angled in pretty much any way that makes it easy to take a reading, and when you fold the probe back to its starting position, the unit turns off. The listing doesn't make it very clear, but there is a C/F button on the back to switch from imperial to metric. In addition, this unit is waterproof, so I'm not worried about steam or splashes ruining the thermometer. And all this for under $18? I honestly can't think of a better value for such a high-quality food thermometer.

We got this meat thermometer to try out the claim that it has a "1 sec truly instant read". We can confirm that this is a lie, but it is much less of a lie than the similar claims many other so-called "instant read" thermometers. At a price of $18 CAD, you get a no-frills, functional tool that we really liked. In our opinion, the most important feature of an instant read thermometer is how long "instant" actually takes. In our experience the thermometer takes about 4 seconds to settle on a final temperature, although after the first second or so you have a pretty good estimate. We find this to be faster than the (many) similar devices we've accumulate over the years. We like how low frills this thermometer is. It doesn't have a lot of buttons: there is a "lock" button on the top which allows you to lock the current temperature on the screen after you withdraw the probe (useful when you can't read the numbers with the probe inserter) and a small C/F conversion button on the back. We especially like that the C/F button is very difficult to accidentally trigger - we've had problems in the past with devices being accidentally swapped from Fahrenheit to Celsius. Every try chicken cooked to 175 C? The device turns on when you unfold the probe and turns off when you fold it back. The numbers are big, bright and easy to read. Even better, they flip so that the numbers are always the right way up, allow the sensor to be used left-handed or when inserted at awkward angles. It also has a magnet on the back that lets you attach it to a convenient metal surface. The magnet isn't that strong, however, so when attached to the side of the fridge the thermometer slowly slides down. It isn't immediately noticeable but it you come back the next day it will have slid down a couple of centimetres overnight. We do have some nitpicks. We wish it read temperatures a little faster. We wish the magnet on the back was a bit stronger. Speaking for myself it would have been nice to have some recommended cooking temperatures printed on it. Overall we are happy with this 4-secondish read thermometer. We think that at the current price of $18 CAD, this is one of the better options available.
