The key to delicious coffee, for those of us who can't use up a pound of freshly roasted beans in a week.
I've really enjoyed learning more about quality coffee through the past few years, and discovered that the key to a good cup is fresh beans— freshly roasted (locally, preferably) and not kept out for more than a week. Well, the problem is, the roast I like is only sold in a one pound bag, and I just couldn't drink enough coffee to use all the beans in one week— and YES, you can tell a difference in the quality of your coffee when using freshly roasted beans or week old beans. I had to decide whether or not to drink coffee that wasn't as satisfying, or wastefully to wastefully discard the beans. Since I couldn't bear throwing away the beans, this little canister has become my life saver! Or, bean saver, I suppose. I can now keep my beans fresh much longer and enjoy quality coffee from locally roasted beans without being wasteful. So pleased! I buy one of these as a gift whenever a coffee-loving friend celebrates his or her birthday.

Looks good but a question
I just received my Bean Safe as pictured above. I have a question about the valve. Just by shear coincidence I happened to look thru the hole in the top orange bump. To my surprise I was able to look and see through to the wires on the wall opposite my chair. My question is "How does the one way valve work?" if there is a straight thru hole in what I assume is the valve body?I hope I'm not seeing the way the valve works!Other than the question above it looks like it will serve to store my espresso beans.

On the fence.
I give it's cousins of a darker color a five star. I bought this color for my decaf. When it arrived it dawned on me that I would need to keep it in a dark place because of the white color. It's a great device, but the number one degrader of coffee beans is actually light, look it up. That said, if you plan to keep this in a cabinet, it should work great.

A specialty product that's not worth the money
I can't believe that anyone would find something positive about this canister. It really makes me question independence of the favorable reviews. If you look at my profile, I generally write positive reviews. However, this item was a complete waste of my money. First of all it's extremely light-weight. Perhaps a small step up from something you'd find at the dollar store. Secondly, you can see right through the "one-way" valve. I was able to blow through both sides. Thirdly, on my container, only three of the four locking tabs actually gripped the edge. Save your money. I'd suggest you buy a generic kitchen canister for your coffee beans. You can get just about any style you wish. You know the ceramic type that frequently comes in sets of four. You will spend less money, have something that's just as functional, and be happier with your purchase.

From an obsessive: THIS IS THE BEST CONTAINER EVER BOUGHT! My precious expensive coffee never had such a great place to live!
Ok, I'm a tea/coffee obsessive! I admit it! I buy my beans direct from Jamaica, some of the best in the world; even better that the Kona from Hawaii IMHO. But at $50/lb my precious beans are stored in this absolutely GREAT container. This is probably the 5th different one I tried; my beans stay the freshest in this BeanSafe.LOVE THIS! And what a great price!! Stick to the plastic though, the metal isn't as good for your beans.Buy this! you will not regret it!

OK
Hard to tell if the rubber vent is working correctly since there are no instruction or information about the canister, its care and how to use.

Love, love
Love, love, love the BeanSafe. I own four of these. I grind my own coffee for use with my Keurig system, which means I grind enough for 1-2 cups a day. I usually keep four different flavors of coffee on hand at a time. The BeanSafe keeps the beans fresh for a long time...the aroma and flavor remains constant from the first day I put the beans in, to the last scoop full. I couldn't be more pleased...

Over-priced but effective
Quite expensive for two glorified plastic containers. But they seem to do the job of keeping the coffee fresh.
