it a good product;good value,however i think the section that protect the tailgate could use a bit more padding other than that i really like this product it makes transporting my bicycle so much easier.

I got this for a temporary solution until my trailer hitch arrived but this is great ! I may not bother with my Thule Bike Carrier when taking my truck . It holds my bike securely and looks good doing it. Access for my tailgate and back up camera unimpeded with the flap up. nice reflective strips and just a good quality made product.. great solution. Don't just throw your bike in the back of your truck , especially if you spent a lot on a bike like I did. THis is the Cat's behind!

Overall, I really like this tailgate pad, and it is a fantastic price for the capacity. I really like the details like the tool pockets, as quite often I find the tailgate of my truck ends up becoming a workbench for last minute fixes at the trailhead.For my uses, typically only carrying 2 bikes, with rugged metal frames, it should do just fine as-is. If I was transporting a full load of 5 bikes, and if they had more delicate super light carbon fiber frames, I might want to add some additional padding to protect the bikes a bit better, as this pad is relatively thin, when compared to the "big brand" offerings like Race Face.If you look up pics of some of the big brand offerings, you'll see they have some really thick cushy padding for where the bike's downtube rests on the top of the tailgate. They also have a lot of side "bolster" padding that cradles each bike and keeps them from touching each other. On this model, the padding on top, where the bike downtube rests on the tailgate, is thinner, more like a yoga mat, and there is very little bolstering to speak of. I'm pretty confident that the bikes are nicely secured by the straps, but I also don't have 5 bikes packed in super tight, I can just run one on each side, so I can see how as you add more and more bikes a bit of added insurance would be good. For the downtube tailgate interface, I think if I'm going to transport some fancy lightweight bikes I will add some additional foam, under this pad, just to give a little more impact protection as we are bouncing up a rough dirt road. I think either a piece of pipe insulation, or one of my wife's old yoga mats, rolled up so its a few layers thick and run across the top edge of the tailgate, would add a lot of peace of mind for me, and would be basically free.So, all in all, this thing is a great value at somewhere between 50-80% less expensive than the big brands, but might just require a little bit of extra foam if you have some really high end bikes.

Great product for the price. It was easy to put on and kept my bikes secure during transport. I do wish the tailgate side had a bit more padding to it, but since the bikes didn’t move much on this it wasn’t a huge concern. This works well and is a great design. Very happy with this.
