One of the best Lego games, and certainly ok for younger ones too
Lots said already about this game so just wanted to add a few things from our perspective. It is pretty good fun and well suited to kids less than 7We got this for a 5yo and she plays it really happily, Dad needed to build it up the first time but she quickly got the idea and does it herself now. Being able to change the dice faces and make up your own rules adds a whole extra dimension to the play too - we often invent a new or changed rule just to see what happens. Mostly we let the Minotaur move further than the rules suggest (or hop over hedges) as it makes him much more forbiding. The UK Lego website (not Lego.com) allows you to search or upload your own ideas also - well worth a lookOur 3yo joins in sometimes but is clearly a little too short of attension span yet to play properly, she sometimes plays her own little made up games with the set up too, which is nice. So in terms of versatility it is great. In terms of long term play I suspect it will end up like Snakes and Ladders or Ludo in our house, where it is popular for a few weeks then not - but always returns for a few plays againIn gameplay it is a quite like Ludo where you have to get your pieces home without them getting caught (by the Minotaur not other plays pieces) - really easy to grasp. In terms of age range 5 to 9 seems about right, older than that and they seem to get bored quite quickly (unless they are helping younger ones to play it). Only downside is the small size of the pieces and the unusual colour of the green/grey which we have no spares for. But then if pieces do get lost then it is simply another excuse to make up some new rules about the black walls we now have (from the Lego colours we do have). It might be a little thing but the box is good and strong too, so it can be left built and stored safely. RRP seems a little steep for what you get but Amazon prices are always better

Entertaining - even for adults!
The simple mechanics of this game mean that it can be entertaining no matter what you age.The idea is simple - get your little Greek hoplite from the corner to the middle before your opponents but avoid the Minotaur. Move by rolling the "build-it-your-self" dice. Several of the dice sides are replaced by special pieces, which if you role, you get a special ability (such as jumping over walls or moving blocking pieces) or control the Minotaur. The best part of the game is that it's LEGO! So the rules, just like the pieces, are subject to "modification". After playing for a few times you will be coming up with your own extra rules to "build" into the game.If playing with two players, we found it was most fun to control all the pieces with each player getting two gos.

Great Family Game
Both my children (9 & 6) love this game. Putting the game together was fun, first time we played, we played using the game rules, but quickly came up with some of our own. The object of the game is to get all your Lego Men from the outside of the game to the centre, going through the maze. You can 'annoy' the other players by blocking them (using the grey blocks) or by setting the Minotaurus on them. If the Minotaurus gets them, they go back to the beginning and start again. We quickly found that we had to limit the amount of times someone could be blocked or start again, not only to make sure the game didn't drag on but also to stop the fights! So we have added a few rules of our own. This was one of the things I liked about this game, you are encouraged to come up with your own rules. The kids therefore had to think about how the game could work better for them.We have played this game many times and the kids love it. It's one of those games that could become a classic in our house.

Disappointing
This took two weeks to arrive. When it finally arrived, the box is faded, crumpled and water damaged. The booklets are wrinkled and falling to bits. This was sold as new and though it might technically be "new" it looks like shop soiled or ex-display which is slightly different. My son, who is a collector, is very disappointed.

Brilliant but pieces missing.
Excellent game, bought it for my 5year old for his birthday. He loved it.Unfortunately some pieces were missing, although they were minor ones. Would have been nice to have all of them though.

Another great lego product
This is a great tactical game which we purchased for our sons 5th Birthday. Setting up the game is as much fun as the game itself but after the initial set up it can be placed back in the box almost complete if wished, or taken apart to reassemble the next time you play it. The game itself does take a bit of thinking through but the good thing about any of the Lego games is that it can be adapted, also known as making the rules up as you go along. Our 5 year old picked up the rules pretty quickly and I feel it will be played with often. Bought this it at a good price so I feel it was good value for money. Maybe a tad overpriced when paying RRP. All in all a great product

Peace, perfect peace on Christmas morning!
All the men and boys were straight into this Lego Game - even the girls wanted to be involved with Minotaurus. Definitely the best buy of 2010 and providing many happy hours for everyone. I certainly agree with other reviewers (whose opinions helped me decide on this gift before Christmas) and would recommend this item for the whole family (but especially the "boys") If you have a Lego mad member of your family, go buy it now! And even anyone not terribly keen on Lego would love this as a game.

for all the boys that love Lego....
For any boy that loves Lego but has plenty of it... this is the next best thing for a present. My son also has the Lego 'Alarm' game, which is also great fun. As with all the games it is the di that decides the moves. As a Mum I love this game as it can be put back in it's box without dismanteling... that's got to be a bonus !
