I bought this kit to try out crochet and was really impressed. The kit comes with everything you need (except for a pair of scissors to cut the yarn). The materials inside all feel like good quality, and make it easier to learn the different types of stitches used through the process. The kit also has a QR code linking you to written instructions, or an instructional video (different videos for left and right handed), which made it easy to follow and learn for a first project. I would definitely recommend this kit alongside the step by step video for a first time trying crochet.

I am OBSESSED with these cute little kits! Hugo the turtle was my second purchase from these guys. As a complete novice with no crochet experience before, these tins have given me massive confidence to crochet. Having the video tutorials are really handy and very easy to follow. The video is split into sections so you can fast forward to wherever you are on if you do it in stages. The quality of the materials are fab, the yarn is really nice and soft to use and the eyes are so cute. I was definitely drawn to buying it because of the cute eyes! The crochet needle is very ergonomic and comfy to hold. I’m looking forward to getting another tin and having a go at another one!!

I bought this for my daughter who wanted to get into Crocheting. The advert says it's good for getting kids into crocheting, so I gave it to her. Some of her friends are into crocheting as well, so I thought it'd be a fun little thing they could do together. After a while it became clear she couldn't follow the video instructions. The main problem with a video is that you have to have a hand free to start and stop the video. When both your hands are doing things with yarn, that means you have to drop the yarn to pause/unpause the video, then pick the yarn back up again. The beginning of the video, especially, could do with being about 10x slower. The lady loops the yarn through her fingers, then twists it around her hand, and shows what it looks like, and then moves on. She may repeat it once. But it's done at a speed that means little ones can't follow. Even as an adult, I found myself rolling the video back about 4 times to get the positioning right. After a while, my daughter said her friends didn't crochet that way, and they taught her an easier method. Sure enough, she started making big discs of crocheted material, but the weave was too dense to use in the pattern. So, all in all, I'd say this tin isn't great for absolute beginners. I'd say it's good for people who already know how to crochet, but want a ready-to-go design with everything you need to make a specific thing. The yarn is lovely quality, and it comes with little googly eyes and a hook, so I think the quality is excellent for what you pay. I give it 4 stars because while the tin and the contents are beautifully presented and great quality, the video instructions could be improved a little. Perhaps an actual paper manual that shows how to hold the yarn would be better?

Absolutely loved making this kit, the materials were a great quality and the online tutorials were thorough and very helpful, great for beginners or people who are still new to crocheting. And Jenny just looked absolutely adorable once she was finished, I'll definitely be ordering more kits from Cookie Box in the future!

Lovely kit but I wouldn't say it's for beginners. All instructions are on a QR code so would be better to print the instructions off.

This is the first thing I ever managed to crochet, instruction video on YouTube you can follow was really helpful, the yarn is easy to use for beginners and it comes with everything you need. Great value for money. Very happy.

Das Häkelset ist wirklich toll. Es hat alles was man braucht um direkt loszulegen! Leider ist die Anleitung auf englisch, allerdings ist es mir durch das Video-Tutorial gelungen, ein super Plüschi zu häkeln als total blutiger Anfänger, ohne jegliche vorherige Häkel-Erfahrung. Sie hat mir auch den Start in die Häkel-Welt deutlich erleichtert. Denn nun bin ich auch in der Lage Muster und Anleitungen aus dem Internet zu lesen. Das wird nicht meine letzte Cookie Box sein!

Kit perfetto!bellissimo kit per fare il mio primo amigurumi.Filato molto bello sia nei colori che nella resistenza,ottimo per chi come me è alle prime armi.Benissimo la possibilità di vedere attraverso il QR code i video e di poter regolare la velocità del video in modo da ripassare più volte quello che si è visto.urcinetto ergonomico molto comodo,occhi bellissimi e grandi che rendono il tartarughino adorabile. Se devo trovare una nota negativa è che tutto, il tutorial,il manuale da scaricare siano solo in inglese,ma cmq piano piano si capisce.Rispetto ad altri kit questo è molto bello semplice completo.

Muy bien presentado y muy completo, sólo hay un problema que las instrucciones son en inglés. Para nosotros no fué problema pero deberían de advertirlo

I haven't fully completed my little guy yet but, after doing the body+head, tail and ears, I am confident in saying that this kit does include everything you need to start crocheting. I've crocheted before - it's been a hot minute - but I sort of know the basic stitches already. When I got this kit in the mail I grabbed my personal hooks because I was like "there is no way this comes with one I want to use". I was wrong! It comes with a fairly nice, beginner, ergonomic hook in size 3.0mm 3.0 is a little small for a starter project so you may have some trouble with the smaller stitches (I get hand cramps at this size and smaller which is why I'm not quite done - I have to take lots of breaks) Quick note: you will need to scan the QR code inside the package to get to the kit's website. There you can download the PDF pattern as well as a "Crochet Tips" manual. I printed both so I could have them on my desk in physical form. There is no physical pattern in the tin to save on space. The pattern is correct, it is easy to read, it explains the terminology at the start. It is full color, it has links (QR codes) to videos showing the different types of stitches and a walk through. There are plenty of stitch markers, stuffing, yarn to complete the project. I'm close to being done and I have tons of yellow yarn left. It has actual safety eyes included and tells you where/when to put them in the pattern. The tin is small enough/convenient to throw in a bag. The yarn is fab for beginning to crochet because it doesn't unravel. I'm really impressed because normally these budget kits are horrible and this one is seriously fantastic. Also - the tips for crocheting includes a part about starting the magic circle and for the first time I actually understand how to do that. I have always struggled with that technique and finally I have found a guide that helped me wrap my brain around it.

Absolutely adorable crochet kit! This was about my 5th project and I would consider this a Beginner+/basic Intermediate level because of the attached limbs and stitched features. I started with a “W” brand beginner kit, then did the Cookie Box Mini Jelly Fish, a few octopuses that I found online and now Leo! He was more challenging than the true beginner projects, but with the videos and printed instructions, he came out adorable (although I accidentally made him look slightly angry with one of the spots above his eye lol)! I love the added sparkle disc behind the colored eyes that give more personality than basic black eyes. I did print out the pdf instructions from the site, I wish they were included in the tin. The videos are good, but it’d be helpful if they were broken into shorter segments. I had to try to fast forward and rewind to search for the part I was on. They do move fast at times, but it was easy enough to either slow the speed or replay parts. I wouldn’t recommend this for a complete beginner with no experience at all, but it is an awesome 3rd+ project. Comes with everything you need and the materials are good quality. The beginner yarn is a game changer! I did use my own crochet hook (Tulip Etimo Red 3.25), but the one that come with the kit is perfectly fine. I have some leftover yarn and stuffing, which is always reassuring as some people crochet looser than others (I tend to have tighter tension). For the price, you really can’t beat these kits, great value and fun! I can’t wait to try more of them. Highly recommend starting with a W Kit, then a Cookie Box Mini, then onto the round tin ones. Oh - the tin!!! Love it!!! Reminds me of my grandma’s round blue cookie tin that held all her sewing supplies when I was a kid. I’ll be using this for many years to come.
