Shame I had to buy this
Ordered this replacement as John Deere was absolutely USELESS in trying to get a replacement on an 18 month old mower, still under factory warranty. Shame on them. Biggest regret is buying a JD in the first place. Will be selling my JD after this season and will be definitely buying from a different manufacturer

Replaced a dead hour meter
The hour meter on my 3-year old Deere S120 went wonky and started displaying odd characters. All indications were that the module had gone bad and the only fix was replacement. This was the best price I could find on it. It arrived quickly and was easy to install. Just unplug the power connector, then press in on the side clips and use a flat-bladed screwdriver to gently pry up on one side then the other, alternating until it comes free. Push the new one into place and reconnect the power connector. Easy peasy. Be aware that the new meter starts at hour 0.0, so any hours already on the machine are lost. Based on the years & months of usage, I estimated what the old faulty meter would have said (since I couldn't read it) and put it on a label that I stuck under the hood. Or you could write it on with a Sharpie. That way, you haven't completely "lost" the total hours of usage. Just add that value to whatever the new meter says to get an estimated number of hours of usage.

Easy replacement, poor design.
The good: this is an exact replacement of the original meter for an s130 with an easy installation process. The Bad: They should have fixed the original design so that the battery could be changed. It forces the customer to purchase a whole new meter every time the battery needs to be changed. poor engineering design (or purposeful on John Deeres part)
