Second "survivor" knife I've purchased
These things are phenomenally cheap, yet of decent quality for the price. This one came nicely sharpened right out of the box, the fire steel is a nice size and the sheath is pretty nice too. The one I got came with a snap closure instead of Velcro. I was very happy about that surprise. All in all, it's a nice small knife. For 10 bucks you really can't beat the value.

Sheath loop Sewn
Good looking knife, the flint fits nicely in its own holder. One downside is the belt loop on the sheath was sewn closed in the middle. Will have to find a different sheath.

It's ok, but I'm a little disappointed
Let me start by saying I knew what I was getting when I ordered this knife, at least I THOUGHT I knew what I getting. Having already purchased a few SE KHK6320 7-Inch Hunting Knife with Fire Starter I was happy to find that it came in a drop-point instead of a tanto. I used the tanto knife all summer for lots of things and while I basically like the knife, I've grown to hate the tanto point. So, yay, drop-point, just a couple bucks more. And for the most part everything about the knife is the same, except for this stupid "Survivor" printed on the side of the blade. Don't worry, it rubs off in about 35 seconds with some fine steel wool. The biggest, and worst difference, is the thickness of the steel. The tanto knife is just over 1/8" or 4mm thick. This knife is 3/32" or 2.5mm thick. I wondered at first why it felt so much lighter. There are some other minor differences, like the notches on the back of the spine (jimping) are more pronounced on this knife, the sheath is slightly smaller and less rigid. Actually, the tanto sheath has some other layer inside where the belt loop is and extending down into the blade storage which this one doesn't have. Just a webbing like material. The cord on the handle is the same crappy braided nylon cord. I removed it on the tanto and I will remove it on this one, too, and NOT re-wrap with real parachute cord. It just gets wet and dirty. The blade needs to be sharpened, but that's par for the course.Update: I sharpened it. It takes an edge fairly well. Don't know yet how well it might hold it. I don't have a Rockwell measuring device, but I might guess it to be somewhere around 420B stainless steel. It's definitely on the softer side. Advantage, it's quick to sharpen.Disadvantage, will probably lose the edge more quickly. The similar tanto knife seemed to be made of harder steel, but that is just my observation based on the level of effort it took for me to create a burr when sharpening (I sharpened the knives one after the other). It also has this weird little notch-y area at the base of the blade. You can see it in the stock photo. Maybe that's for scraping the fire starter? I dunno, I would use the back of the blade as I have done with the tanto. The firestarter, I didn't try yet, but I assume it's the same as the tanto. Probably needs super-glueing into the holder, but it creates a shower of sparks. I've used it to successfully make a fire with relative ease. The thing that I LIKE about these knives is that they are skinny... what I mean is that the handle is not a big rounded piece of wood or whatever. Sure, it might make it less comfortable, but it also makes it easier to store in tight places like a get-home-bag, bug-out-bag, whatever. There are a few other of these types of knives on the market now that are not the dreaded tanto point that I guess I will have to try out now. Hopefully the thickness measures up (pun intended). However, they are all slightly longer, at least 7.5" or 8" overall, which while not really that significant, may cause packing/storage concerns. The 7" tanto fits my GHB, an 8" not so well.I'll give it three stars, rounding up from 2.5. The thickness really let me down.UPDATE (6/21/13): After more use, I will give it 3 1/2 stars. For the Amazon rating system, I will tag it as a 4 star. See more update below. For more comparison, my Gerber LST folder and my kitchen Santoku knife are both 1/16" or 2mm thickness. There are a few more of these "Survivor" brand knives on the market now. I am going to assume, until I read otherwise, that they are all thinner steel and will avoid them. Like I said, hopefully some of these other non-tanto cheap blades will work out. I'll update this review and link to them if so. (Update 6/21/13: I have since purchased ANOTHER of the tanto knives and it's sheath is still better and the steel is still thicker, although they put the stupid "Survivor" logo on it... where is that steel wool?)Update 6/21/13:As I mentioned above I will increase my rating to 3.5 stars. I'm still holding a grudge that it's not as thick as the tanto model. And the sheath is still lesser than the tanto model's sheath.I have since used this drop point knife more extensively to cut small branches and saplings, to baton and beaver through some 1 3/4" branches (I'm not sure what kind of tree it was, but it was SUPER hard wood), to dispatch and clean a bluegill/sunfish and some other basic cutting uses. I haven't sharpened it again but I have put it on the steel before each use. It seems to be holding its edge pretty well. It hasn't bent or otherwise shown signs of failure. It was much easier to clean the fish with the thinner blade, and the drop point worked better for me, than with the thicker tanto... so that's a plus. If you take off the cord wrap from the handle, it tends to be a little more painful to use because it is so thin. I didn't use it for a long duration, but I could see where my hands would get sore. But any bare steel handle like that will eventually become uncomfortable. It remains that for the price, this and all of these cheap Chinese steel knives are great for basic use. The biggest pro being that because they are so cheap, you can use them without fear of ruining them. Or if you do, they are cheap to replace. I find this especially comforting when I take it out fishing, that if I lose it in the water it's not like I "sunk" a lot of money into it. Right now the tanto is cheaper, but if the price comes back down a little on this one, I'd consider getting another (really, because I still hate the tanto point).

Good for the price

Good luck!
First time trying it and the flint broke in half. Don't bother....waste of money, I'd rather smash 2 rocks trying to get a spark then to get this.

Good everyday knife
Look how much this knife cost, for what you're paying how can you complain? It's a good knife for tasks that you don't want to use a high $$ knife for. Plus, if you miss place it or break it you won't cry yourself to sleep. Mine was sharp enough out of the box for most tasks. Yes the sheath and cord wrap are not the best, but they work well enough. I say take a chance and buy one, you'll be glad you did.
