Disappointed at first, but now content.
I really want to love this SatNav! I'm a lorry driver on London runs mostly and have been using this for 3 months now.I'll cut to the point and tell you what's wrong with this device.1) The traffic updates are unbelievabley wrong. You start a new route and it will take you around traffic that isn't there, and dump you in traffic it can't pick up on.2) The routes.... Oh the routes.... This thing will take you on some long way round to places when I have had to ignore the SatNav and put up with it telling me to make a U-turn every junction to suddenly come out where I wanted to be.3) The two above combined will make you so nervous you spend more time in doubt than feeling assisted.Garmin, what is going on? I'm stuck with a £350 SatNav I trust less than my Grandmother for directions and will now have to get myself something else.I have had this thing 3 months, and I really want to love it. The map, the design and the user friendliness are great but it fails at the fundamental points.Would I buy this again?Probably not.Update (Jan 2020) - The traffic has improved lots, I don't know what they've done but I stuck with this Garmon instead of going back to Tomtom and I can happily say I am happy with it :)

Fantastic truck sat nav
I have been using a Snooper sat nav in my truck for many years but as I bought it before free map updates the maps were out of date and expensive to buy so thought I might as well look at a new unit. I spent ages researching the Garmin dezl 780 lmt-d and thinking what a lot of money it was to spend. Finally took the plunge and I'm very glad I did. I've tried Tom Tom's(always freezing and shutting off) and the Snooper but this Garmin is much much better. The magnetic mount is great and easy to use, entering vehicle profiles is simple and entering addresses and finding routes is quick. Routing has been excellent avoiding city centres and small roads when possible. Unlike truck co pilot supplied by work which has hopeless routing. I do use the free services on the Garmin app for best traffic updates and it does work, using very little data. Regular system and map updates over wi-fi means maps are bang up to date. The screen is great to use too, swiping smoothly just like a tablet where my old Snooper was very slow by comparison. In short lot of money but I'm glad I finally went for it. I thoroughly recommend this unit.

DOES THE JOB
Been using this for a month. I'm a new HGV driver class 2 and work in the water industry. It does a great job but needs to be linked with your smart phone for the app to get some of the best features (for free!)One fustrating issue with it that as yet it doesnt pick up some of the new 20mph roads in central London so beware. I have also as of yet be able to find the Break Planning feature. When saving adresses it can be annoying based on the fact you cant scroll back to far along title if you have made a mistake. This means having to delete nearly all of you writing and retype. If this could also adopt some of the google maps ideas and features it would be perfect. I found scrolling along route to find a paticular brand of petrol station frustrating as i can only use Shell. I tried to scroll along a route from Beckton to AL7 to see if there was one near my destination but alas i resorted to Google maps as far easier and quicker to find adresss and observe location.Google steeet maps can be great for viewing a road to see wether or not it is possible to get down with parked cars or seeing the general layout of a work location. All in all does a good job and you wont be dissapointed.

Good product, took me a while to trust directions !!!
Had this now over a month and after initial download that took all night !! it started off ok ? there is a couple of things I still cannot for the life of me understand? why does a product that states that it is a TRUCK SAT NAV ? only give house numbers to choose from? when you are driving an articulated lorry, the last place you want to go is a house? it gives no preference on company names or industrial estates, post codes also only give you a select few choices of road names to choose from? its predictive idea on addresses also give no correct places that this product should be geared for? I was also extremely surprised to find that when I searched for Burton on Trent, it appeared not to be in the database? so my first months use really has me getting to the addresses and then adding them as co-ordinates for the next time? it does frustrate at times!! but as yet it has kept me away from low bridges!!!! its very expensive!!! so make sure it is what you need before parting with your cash......

Easy to use and all the functions you need.
Great piece of kit - pricey but worth it. Finds routes very quickly and allows you to preselect a route to a destination - something I had to use 'BaseCamp' for previously. I recommend you buy screen protectors and a soft case for it - at this price I'm a little disappointed they weren't included!Be aware that when updating it that the download is around 8 - 9GB in size and does take a long time to download. My last update took all night (!!!) and was ready for my next working day with only a few minutes to spare.Edit: Just wanted to add to the above by saying if you install the Garmin webupdater on your computer and use that to update the Dezl it will actually download as fast as your internet connection allows - it's when using the built-in wifi that seems to take a long time.
