Look great. Can't wait to drive R66 and put this guide to the test!
I bought this book as I heard good reviews on it. I am British and planning to do sections of Route 66 over a few years. I have already driven the Black Mountains section through Barstow, Amboy, Oatman and Seligman as far as the Grand Canyon junction. Next month I am driving the LA section right through to Oklahoma City. As I plan to travel West - East, I was having difficulty finding guidebooks and anyone who has travelled sections of R66 will know how difficult it can be to find in some places! Although better for travellers going from East - West, this has a guide for those, like me driving in the "wrong" direction too. It is in a great ring binder fastening so it will be easy to use whilst travelling, appears to have great maps and additional places to visit if you have extra time. I have briefly looked through it and it looks like it will be a great help. I will see if it is as good as it looks and update my review on my return from the Mother Road.

You should only consider Route 66 with this book!
It was really easy to use as a guide and reference. It was spot on even though this is now the previous version. I only know this as we went to see Jerry (the author) at his home last week.We drove eastbound but it was really easy to use.It is full of things to see as well as gift shops and diners recommended.Like I said it is a “Must buy” if you are driving Route 66

Invaluable as a route guide and highlighting places of interest
We did R66 2 years ago over 17 days and out trip would have been only half the experience if it had not been for this book.First day we found the book a bit tricky to follow (stick with it!) but we soon got into the mindset and thereafter it was invaluable. Plenty of tips on what to see and look out for as well as R66 route variations to follow if desired. We also called in on Jerry and his wife to secure his more than willing autograph as well as him give us a few swift route updates to the book !This book combined with google maps on our phone enabled us to successfully and faithfully navigate the original route of the Mother Road. Don’t leave home without it.

It’s Going to be Invaluable
Heading out to Route 66 in September and this is the ‘Bible’ according to seasoned 66 travellers and it appears that it is indeed going to be invaluable. On first reading it has simple to follow directions for both East and West bound travellers. Well drawn mappings and plenty of advice for stops, side trips etc. Obviously the proof of the pudding will be in the eating but delighted with the content.

Too expensive, not impressed
I paid more money to buy this based on the good recommendation but it’s a bit of a let down. Took ages to arrive, massively expensive and nothing special that you can’t get off google. I think the print and lay out of the pages looks really confusing and small but it is a new purchase and I haven’t tested it yet so will re-review.

ESSENTIAL for Route 66
Just finished 17 Days doing 66 from LA to Chicago (reverse order) yes it has the reverse Route on the bottom of each page.At first glance, from home it seems unusually written, almost a self published feel. ON THE ROAD... you will almost wear the book out!!! It’s almost a turn by turn instruction guide across the country. It’s the bible...I even met the author, as he gives directions to his art gallery.
