What I did was used my 3 in 1 oil on both and they both spun freely (very freely) put on normal and work perfect so, my suggesting is oil everything the bottom part where the spokes turn then the cable then the speedo with 3 in 1 oil and your good to go! so you know the bottom gears are plastic and need the oil or probably why some had no problem once it wears in.. or others that had problems. It is mechanical, a small reader with a straight cable from the read (positioned where the wheel is bolted to the front forks) and runs up to the speedometer. It is a so simple design, it's not electrical. Unless there is something that interferes with the front forks (where the front wheel is attached) then there should be no problem. Hope this helps...I like this so much two were bought, one for when ever. **Q: do they sell one with mph?** A: This is mph and km. The outer numbers are mph.
