I've had luggage delayed between continents, and it was through the Tile devices and their app that I was able to definitively tell the airlines where my luggage sat. The battery life is fixed because the small coin cells are soldered to the circuit board. Tried replacing and it was NOT worth the hassle. Easy to use with a single click and beep, registering on the app in seconds. The four-pack is a great deal. Even with fewer pieces of luggage, you can share one or two of these with family members or friends. The community find feature is also reassuring, even if I haven’t had to use it in practice. Battery life seems good, but bear in mind the Mate version has a non-replaceable battery. It’s meant to last around three years and then be swapped out entirely. That’s a bit wasteful, but tolerable given the cost. It’s loud enough to hear in most situations, though if it’s buried under cushions or in a thick coat, you might miss it. For everyday forgetfulness, like misplacing keys or leaving something in a bag, it’s a solid bit of kit. Did manage to slam one in a door and it delaminated, so it's easy enough to replace the battery, just not sure if it screws itself up when the battery timer on it runs out. I may make a 3D printed surround to you can break them open to repair.
