Sorry, can't answer this but you can contact the seller on the item page and ask them. If your saying you want 3 boxes, there should be a place to choose your quantity. If not, again I'd contact the seller. Sorry not much help!

Q: the dark and strong roasts are two different flavors (see different designs) but they are being sold as same. How do I get the dark (not strong) roast

They are the same blend. JDE changed the name from Dark to Strong when they brought out new packaging, to bring it in line with the name family (eg. Extra Strong)

Q: Do the individual pods/filters contain plastic?

No plastic. It’s like a round teabag. It only works in the Senseo coffee maker.

The Strong coffee is just that, regular roasted coffee beans with a stronger brew. The Dark Roast coffee beans have been roasted longer for a darker flavor. I don't particularly care for the darker roasted flavor, and use the strong formula daily.
