Wonderful Base for Chili, Soup or my favorite - the Pot Roast
I've used quite a few different brands of stock (including my own) over the years. I am by no means a professional cook, but, I do know what we like in this house - to give you insight into this - we don't add salt at the table, we tend to eat lots of fresh foods and very few prepared foods. Creating my own stock can be time consuming and lately time is in short quantity, so, this stock is wonderful for our soups (beef barley or vegetable beef) and chili concoctions, but, best of all, for my "cookin' all day in the slow cooker" - pot roast. I'll add a bit of red wine (only the kind I would drink myself) on occasion, but always onions, garlic, celery, smoked salt and near the end potatoes and carrots we want to eat. Since I add smoked salt during the initial browning phase of the meat prep, I don't want more salt in the stock - it can be hard to find unsalted stock packed with good flavor but Kitchen Basics fits our needs perfectly. This unsalted stock creates the perfect basis for a wonderful broth in which to create fantastic pot roast - fall apart tender and even more wonderful on Day 2 (or 3 if it makes it that far). Whip up some fresh crusty Irish Soda bread and dig in!Oh, and the sizing of the containers fits perfectly into my 1940's sized cupboards which is nice.

I buy in bulk!
I can't find this product in my area. I like the unsalted kind due to health issues in my family. I also like to control the salt level in my cooking. I use this product all the time and buy it six at a time. I always have this in my house. I add it to soups, stews, and pan juices to extent the quantity.

The Best on the Market
Having a no-sodium stock is so important to my husband and me. We make many soups and stews through the fall and winter months and are so happy with this product. They make other flavors as well, all no sodium. Also, it's so much better than any wimpy broth.

boxes badly crushed
Product very good. Shipping horrible. Boxes were crushed so badly that one box had leaked out and was totally empty. Every box crushed badly.

Unsalted are the best
All the Kitchen Basics Stocks are great but I especially like the unsalted versions as you can reduce them significantly without them becoming salty. And, if after reducing they need salt, you can use sea salt or a salt substitute then. Many stores don't carry the unsalted ones so I'm forced to buy them 6 at a time through Amazon. I do use them often so the supply does go quickly.

Great stuff
We use this beef stock to make a faux soy sauce for my son who is allergic to all kinds of foods. This is the only brand of beef stock we have found that is safe.

All the flavor with considerably less salt!
As someone concerned about reducing their sodium intake I'm always looking for ways to reduce salt yet retain flavor. I was thrilled to come across Kitchen Basics Unsalted Beef Stock as a great alternative to their regular Beef Stock. With this you're cutting your sodium intake in half from 430 mg to 200 mg, and that's a pretty darned good start! I think some folks are thrown by the label and think that it's salt free, but on the contrary it is not! Kitchen Basics simply doesn't add additional salt to what is already present and which cannot be completely eliminated; something I fully understand and comprehend. What amazes and delights me is the complexity and full flavor of this beef stock, as I use in a number of recipes, especially chilis, pot roasts, French dishes, and more and I have NEVER been disappointed by it. No kitchen should be without at least a few cartons of this, the chicken stock, vegetable stock, and other stocks!
