I did not expect a cheese grater to improve my outlook on life, yet here we are. The Microplane Professional grater has turned what used to be a knuckle-threatening chore into something I actively look forward to. Suddenly every pasta, salad, and dessert in my kitchen is getting a little chef’s-kiss finish. For context, I previously owned a rotary grater that felt like it was powered by spite and poor engineering. It squeaked, it jammed, and it made me question my life choices. This Microplane, on the other hand, is sharp, precise, and shockingly pleasant to use. It feels sturdy without being bulky and cleans up quickly, which means I actually reach for it instead of negotiating with myself. I came for finely grated Parmigiano and bright lemon zest. I stayed because I now garnish everything like a person who has their life together. Five stars. My pasta is happier. I am happier. Nice, sturdy and sharp!

This grater is a must-have in every kitchen: sharp and reliable, it works beautifully on citrus zest, hard cheese, ginger, garlic, and nutmeg. I’ve bought it many times because I take it with me when I travel and often leave it behind as a gift for the hosts of the kitchens where I cook. Unfortunately, in a short time the price has gone up from $18 to $25, which is quite disappointing.

I have used Microplane graters for several years now and they have served their purpose well. I use them primarily to grate fresh ginger in order to brew ginger tea and for cooking. What I like most it that the microplane grater does not cut your fingers even when you get close to the surface. Cleanup is very easy by just rinsing it under the tap while running your fingers on the underside of the grater. The product is well made and can be tossed into the dishwasher for a deep clean once in a while.

I waited awhile to review wanting to work with it awhile on different foods. Yes, definitely 5 stars. It’s sharp, easy to use and to clean. I especially like the way I can lay it down to use.
