Q: Is this effective in large planters with plants?

Yes. I use it in my entire yard at the beginning of mosquito season, as the lawn stays wet for a long time. Then I spray monthly with another product for the rest of the season. I have no mosquitos and I live in the woods in the Deep South

Q: The product is small black balls. where is the methoprene? in the black cover of the ball or in the balls? the balls becomes white after some days.

I don't know the answer to this but I know it works! All the mosquito control businesses use it.

Dear Amy As per Altosid IGR product label; Use Site: snow pools, salt and tidal marshes, freshwater swamps and marshes (cattail, red cedar, white maple marshes), woodland pools and meadows, dredging spoil sites, drainage areas, ditches, wastewater treatment facilities, livestock runoff lagoons, retention ponds, harvested timber stacks, swales, storm water drainage areas, sewers, catch basins, tree holes, animal watering troughs, water-holding receptacles (e.g., tires, urns, flower pots, cans, and other containers), and other natural and manmade water-holding depressions. So it should not be harmful to animal/Live stock. Please refer actual label verbiage that come along with Product. Thanks Pest control Products Depot
