Lots of different answers here and I guess what works for you is fine. I have several cast iron pots passed down from my Grandmother to my Mother and to me. I don't wash them with soap. Soap may not remove all the seasoning but the pan will not be as non-stick if you wash with soap. I use a stainless steel scrubber or a brush (with water only) depending on whether there is any stuck on food. Rinse and dry well. Oil it after it's cool. It is not gross to not use soap. Preheating kills any potential bacteria. Do you bring the grills from your barbecue inside and scrub them with soap? Probably not. Usually you just scrape them and then the fire sterilizes them.

I had the 6 or 7 court from amazon basics and I returned it.  It was warped and doesn’t come as seasoned as a Lodge.  I have many cast iron pieces including the 2QT and I can tell u it is one of my weekly pieces.  I make beef stew, curry chicken, and chili to name a few.  Lodge is by far my favorite company and I wish they would send me a check for every time I brag about them!!  But in all seriousness they make the best cast iiron in my opinion.  They also tend to be heavier I think.
