Amazon Kindle 16 GB (2024 model) - Light and compact, with fast page turns, and high contrast ratio - Matcha

After spending months researching different e-readers, the Kindle Basic was my top choice. It’s portable— not as small as my phone and not so big that it’s like I’m carrying an iPad around. It is lightweight so it fits in my pockets or purse easily for on-the-go reading. I have enjoyed every moment of reading I have spent on this kindle in the past 4 months. The screen has a very clean and crisp look to it and is comfortable to read on without straining your eyes. The brightness setting is helpful for reading in darker places and I love how you can even read in the daylight without a screen glare! The reaction time is very quick when you scroll or flip a page and I have had no problems with it. After flipping too many pages too fast I have noticed a faint bit of “ghosting” where I can see the letters from the previous page faintly over the new page but it goes away and does not make it unreadable or uncomfortable to look at. The battery life is long and plentiful; I have gone weeks without charging it although I only read for 15-30 minutes at a time every day or so. It has gone to coffee shops and to church camp, on road trips and in the backyard for sunny reading. I got the Kindle Magnetic Flip Case separately and paired together my kindle has been very durable! Very happy with my purchase 🎉🥳

I got this Kindle as a gift for my mother-in-law, and she absolutely loves it! She’s been enjoying how lightweight and compact it is, making it easy to hold for longer reading sessions and convenient to take along wherever she goes. The screen is clear and easy to read, and the faster page turns make moving through books feel smooth and responsive. The 16 GB of storage also provides plenty of room for building a nice digital library without constantly having to manage space. Overall, I think this makes a wonderful gift for anyone who loves to read. My mother-in-law was thrilled with it, and seeing how much she enjoys using it makes me very happy with the purchase.

So I decided to get myself this kindle after being disenfranchised by my nook glowlight 4e. It was too heavy, and the battery has never lasted as long as I needed it too since I usually keep my ereader on me (namely, in my purse) so I can read at work. This and Kindle Unlimited (and heavily discounted books)?? A perfect pairing that has made me immeasurably happy. My hands are small. It is an unfortunate reality, but reality nonetheless. My glowlight 4e was too wide for me to handle one handed, too wide to slip into my pocket, and would hurt my wrist after a half hour of reading (my goal is at least an hour of uninterrupted book time a day.) My kindle does not have that problem. At all. I have held it for over an hour, uninterrupted, able to read through Lord of The Rings without even so much a twitch of my wrist. The touch sensitivity is amazing, and the weight of it remains stable no matter the angle. I'm not too sure of the durability just yet, but I did get a case for it that I think goes well. I chose black because it's my favorite color and paired with the light blue case it matches my aesthetic perfectly. The words are crisp and clear, and I like that it has different themes for different vibes. I keep it basic to mimic as much of a real book as possible (since my physical library is at my mom's place), and I thoroughly enjoy the experience it gives me. Also has audiobook support which means I can listen to an audiobook to fall asleep instead of sitting on my phone for hours on end getting distracted by every little buzz of my device. Vs. The Glowlight 4e It's smaller, lighter, and the touch screen is more responsive. Though admittedly I would prefer buttons, this device has proven I can forego my need for such without issue provided that it actually FITS IN MY SMALL HANDS WITHOUT ISSUE. All in all, if you're fighting between Kindle vs. Glowlight, my vote is on Kindle. It's a perfect little companion for those of us with a massive library and no way to cart it around without carrying a trunk everywhere. 10/10, great device.

I was surprised by how much more this thing made me want to read! The reading experience was great. It felt like a book when I turned the pages, but without the discomfort of a regular book. It can get pretty dim in a room without light, just enough not to make my eyes hurt. It looks sleek and small, which is a huge plus for me, as I can fit it in my pocket. It's so light but seems pretty durable. Functionality-wise, it was much quicker than I expected. It also has an incredible battery life and seems like a super stable product. I also love that with Kindle you get a discount on all the books you buy. If you read a lot, it saves time and money.

I left my last Kindle on an airplane (I know, so sad), so I spent a few days researching my options before picking this one. Honestly, I'm glad I took the time because it's been a great replacement. It's the perfect size for traveling or just tossing in my purse. The battery life is actually incredible and lasts so long. The screen is clear and easy to read during the day or at night, and I feel like it doesn't strain my eyes at all. Also, the matcha color is just so cute. I didn't think I'd care about that, but I do!!! If you travel a lot or want something small to carry around, I'd recommend this one. I love reading on it, it doesn't lag, I keep it in my bag all the time and honestly i dont have a case on it and yet its still in perfect shape!

I really like this kindle but I may upgrade to the Paperwhite (I'll explain). The reading experience on this is wonderful. There is no glare even in full sun. The screen gets very bright but it has a very blue hue which I find strains my eyes similar to a phone screen. The size is FANTASTIC. This thing is so portable because of it's size- it fits in all my bags even my clutches. It is pretty responsive but, as you can see in the video, sometimes it lags. This isn't a huge issue when reading but can be annoying when changing settings mid reading session. The dark mode is a great option for nighttime reading but again, the backlight is very blue which may affect sleep. The reasons I may upgrade are: I really want the warm light and the more responsiveness of the paperwhite. The main reason I may not upgrade: I LOVE the size of this thing. I wish they made the paperwhite in 6'. Also, the case shown is from The Bookish Goods store. Highly recommend.

I bought this because I wanted a second kindle for studying poetry, folklore and fairytales. It was becoming annoying to switch between books on my paperwhite. Pros: it's actually faster than my paperwhite. Has a great appearance. Easy and comfortable to hold. Easy to navigate. And works fantastically! Semi cons since I can't find a full con: battery life drains faster than the paperwhite. But throwing on airplane mode slows it down considerably. And it has a bit of that ghost text, but it's not super bad on mine. I also wish it had a warm light option, but that's just a personal preference. Overall its definitely worth the price to have a study kindle.
