Not Good Enough
I've been playing Pokemon since the Red game came out many years ago. I have always sought out a strategy guide and generally found them extremely useful. However, I'm forced to submit that this guide for the latest game is sadly lacking. Its almost as if the writers have only played half the game. Once you get to the end of the book there is so much more to see and do, trading with Ruby/Sapphire and a Pokedex that should go up to 385 or thereabouts! Unfortunately these answers are currently only available on web sites.

Prima official guides! Gotta get one
This guide is well presented and has many surprises which does not spoil the hidden secrets to the game. A great addition to any Poke-nuts' collection as it is well illustrated and gives you a complete listing of both Kanto and Johto Pokemon and where to get them. Overall I recommend this guide to anyone who is new or a veteran of Pokemon..Happy hunting!

A huge letdown
This guide is awful, the only good thing is the moves for the first 150 pokemon in the pokedex section (thats why it got two stars and not one). Here are some of the faults i have noticed:1)No contents or index2)Aqcuiring the Town Map from Daisy's house after delivering Oak's Parcel omitted3)People missed out not only in Viridian City, but everywhere.4)ALL Cut trees missed out5)Hidden Berry spots not mentioned at all6)The little "tunnels" in mount moon not marked7)It says that there is a Snorlax in Cerulean City. ITS A SLOWBRO.8)It labels Cut as TM03, not HM01 when telling you the advantages the Cascade Badge.9)Doesn't mention the battle with the Rocket Grunt for TM28 Dig.10)Stuff like the Kitchen, the rooms and the Captains Floor are left out on the S.S. Anne11)Diglett's Cave missed out completely, you need to go through there to get HM05 Flash12)Route 10 Completely missed out.13)Name Rater Missed out.14)Lavender Town left out till second visit.15)Magneton continually referred to as Megaton.16)Silph Co. and Gym in Saffron City teleport pads not marked properly17)Silph Co. Doors not marked18)Route in pokemon Mansion and thereon NOT MARKED.19)Cinnabar Gym some answers missed and doors omitted.20)Sevii Islands done as a side quest when they are an integral part of the main quest.21)Boulders in Victory Road not marked at all22)Routes 19 and 20 not included in the guide23)Getting to Moltres not explained24)Kindle Road not included25)Map of Cerulean Cave is WAY too small, I had to strain to see itand so on...Basically those are the faults i found doing a quick skim through the guide, as you can see it is full of faults. Look online for a guide it would be better than this one.

A useful walkthrough lacking in additional information
I bought the FR/LG Prima guide recently when I got my hands on an import copy of Leaf Green. It has the necessary information for a basic walkthrough, and a Pokedex detailing the moves learned as each Pokemon grows through the levels. To be honest, I was disappointed in the additional information (or lack thereof). Whereas the Ruby/Sapphire guide had so much information that it appeared cluttered, the FR/LG guide has overcompensated and lacks sufficient detail. There are only TM, HM and Berry lists - no move lists, no item or key item lists with locations, and I've already spotted omissions in the walkthrough. The game itself has a reference guide accessible via the GBA's shoulder buttons which is useful for newcomers to Pokemon, but this still doesn't give the information omitted from the new Prima official guide. An adequate guide, but not quality like the Sapphire/Ruby effort.
