Gaiam On-The-Go Yoga Mat Carrier

I love this little yoga mat carrier!! It looks adorable and is perfect for the summer. I have three yoga mat bags at home and wanted something lighter and that wasn't a bag. So, this worked perfectly for me and my needs. Yes, you can put a whole lot inside, but that's not its purpose. As you can see from the attached photos, this carrier has a zipper pocket on the outside which can fit keys, a foldable wallet/man's style, lip balm, moist wipes and some hair clips/elastics. The inside has NO pockets of any sort. There is an elastic to which you secure your mat, and you can also put there a small towel, and I have looped my mamakuka straps in there. And this is what the elastic does. Then you close the carrier by a set of magnets. Now, you can also secure there a light jacket as well. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and have been using this yoga mat carrier for about a month. :)

This is a fantastic product! I purchased it after losing one too many mats, leaving them behind at yoga studios after which they would never be seen again. The empty sling next to my purse is the perfect smart reminder to bring my mat home after practice. Even better, the quality of the sling is superior to what I expected. 1. It's sturdy and spacious. For studio practice I use a 71" 3/8" Jade Harmony mat. The sling closes around it easily, leaving about 3 fingers of air space that I can fill with a towel. There is an interior elasticized strap that closes with velcro and holds the mat snuggly so that it doesn't slide. 2. The outside pocket is large enough for a change purse and my car keys and the zip opens and closes easily. 3. The color is an attractive shade of gray that works well with my slate blue mat. 4. Straps are long enough to comfortably wear over bulky winter coats. My only complaint is at certain angles the magnetic closures at the top of the sling come undone when I place the sling down at an angle; but the velcro strap holds the mat in place firmly and the pocket zip stays shut.

Great little yoga mat carrier, just what I needed. It fits my Liforme yoga mat and is super easy to get in and out. I like that there’s an inter stretchy velcro strap that secures the mat first because then I don’t have to worry about snapping the buttons closed necessarily. The pocket fits my iPhone 8+, car key FOB, chapstick, and would probably fit my slim wallet/card holder too but I don’t have a need to carry it in with me. The only improvement I’d make is if the straps were a little wider so they were more comfortable on the shoulder. One last note- some of the other reviews referenced a magnetic closure (that most people seemed to have issues with) but the one I received has buttons, no magnets, so perhaps they made a design change based off reviews. The buttons work just fine, no issues.

I bought this carrier for use with my standard 24" x 66" x 1/8" mat, and it worked great with that mat. I've since switched to a 26" x 72" x 1/4" mat, and the fit is a bit tight. The carrier still works, but unless I roll my mat up tightly, the magnetic closures aren't secure. I'm not too concerned though because the velcro strap still holds the mat securely. The little pocket on the front is a nice touch. I wear cycling gloves during my practice for extra hand cushioning, and the pocket allows me to keep them with my mat so I don't forget them. My only real complaint with the carrier is the straps, They're a bit thin, and it'd be nice if they were a little thicker for comfort. Another improvement would be putting a pocket on each side for extra utility. But overall, I'm very happy with this carrier. Picture is with my 26" x 72" x 1/4" mat.

I typically don't post reviews, but was so delighted with this product that I felt moved to do so. I decided to purchase a yoga mat for a cardio gym class when we do sit-ups, planks, etc. After taking the mat to the gym once I realized that carrying it rolled up was unwieldy. I checked all of the other carriers and this one seemed perfect. It is!! Simple, easy, and quick to load (takes two seconds), balanced and pleasant to carry, well-made and attractive, the straps are the perfect length, and the zippered pocket is great. I can't wait to officially use it. I'm gonna prance around the gym like I own the place!

I have bought several types of mat carriers and, finally, I've found what I'm looking for. Some people have said that the shoulder strap is thin and that's true. Not thin as in flimsy; just not wide for easy carrying. But this isn't a problem for me as I don't carry this far and most of the time I carry it in my hands and not over the shoulder. I love the design on this as it holds my thick mat with the heavy velcro wrap. The pocket is good for what little I need to carry. I don't bring my phone into the yoga class so I don't know how it would work with the phone. I always bring a towel, which I just wrap around one of the shoulder straps. And it's easy to put the mat back into the holder after class. This is the right item for me.

Not quite sold on this mat carrier. Bought it with the Gaiam Sol Dry-Grip mat, which is quite thick and needs a good carrier. I liked this carrier at first, as it's stylish and has the functional pocket, but the internal velcro straps aren't quite tight enough to keep the mat from slipping and the external magnetic closures pop open unless you hold the carrier just right. My biggest beef is that you can't sling it over your shoulder... it has to be hand carried. That means that you always have a long appendage poking people around you when you walk, which isn't great on crowded subways or sidewalks. If you try to hold it vertically, the velcro lets the mat slip enough that it becomes unbalanced and the magnetic closures pop open again. Planning on returning this and getting something designed to be a sling with a tighter hold.
