It works well
Received a few days ago, after reading a few negative ratings I was a little concerned if the device was any good as they are not that cheap... you must register online before you can use the product, downloaded a little EXE file from Snoop website, installed, updated unit, fitted in car using plunger type base. You can download the same software on your phone and update while it stays in position, easy peasy. On first outing it picked up a sneaky mobile unit and started beeping slow at first, advises speed of road, I was sceptical as I didn't see mobile unit, but as I rounded the corner, there they were, hidden quite well just as the road goes from 40 to 30 MPH, really sneaky but my snooper elite BT picked it up. It comes with cigarette lighter charger, and also a hard wire cable for fixed unit fitting, and a computer cable fur updating (if you don't use your phone for update) the only problem is it also picks up shop doors with Infrared sensors, but the warning tone is different sound, you can set the alarm to bleep loud and the go lower in volume, but until I understand snooper a bit better Im not turning any of the bands off.... But don't let this put you off, it is good and deffo picked up my first mobile unit without fault....

Warning - Now Discontinued and Snooper Are not Providing Updates From Dec 2020!!
Updated October 2020:Snooper have acted very badly by withdrawing support for 4 Zero Elite owners from Dec 2020. So you will no longer be able to get GPS Speed Camera Updates after this, and no support. Shocking that they can render a £200 product obsolete in 2 years. They are expecting you to pay a reduced price for a Road Angel - with an extortionate subscription -no thanks and goodbye Snooper - the last product I am ever buying from you!I have recently replaced the previous 4 Zero Elite with this new 4 Zero Elite Bluetooth model, so have already written a comprehensive review on the other unit here:https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-reviews/R2ASCHQ5WWRDGC/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B01N165B18What is evident to me is that there seems to be a lack of understanding by some reviewers concerning speed camera detection. There are significant numbers of fixed cameras that are not actually in operation all the time (i.e. switched off). Therefore the GPS location may alert you to a known camera location, but if the camera is not actively sending out radar, then the 4 Zero will obviously not trigger an alarm. So to summarise:• GPS tells you where the cameras are• Radar tells you if they are live and activeFurthermore, it also seems that they are not reading the manual on the varying operating modes that can be activated by the user. To help others understand this I have replicated the relevant parts of the manual here:• CITY ModeWhen CITY Mode is selected there will be no audible X Band alerts unless the signal strength exceeds level 2. There will be no audible K or Ka band alerts unless the signal strength exceeds level 1.(Laser alerts remain unaffected when selecting this mode).• CITY PLUS ModeWhen CITY PLUS is selected you will not receive audible X, K or Ka band alerts unless the signal strength reaches maximum.• MOTORWAY ModeIf MOTORWAY mode is selected you will receive audible X, K and Ka radar alerts as normal based on the volume level you have selected.• AUTOMUTEWhen 4ZERO Elite BT alerts you to a radar frequency, rather than continually beeping through the alert, it simply beeps at your selected volume for five seconds and then automatically mutes volume until you are out of range of the source. This allows you to receive a brief audible alert instead of a continuous one.If you would like to change the alert to a visual alert only press the MUTE button to temporarily turn off the sound. This unit also only notifies you of alerts in your direction of travel.Users should be aware that your detector may seem to trigger a radar alert without a GPS warning. I have found that some later vehicles on the road may use an active radar-based cruise control or active distance monitoring device. If these signals are being fired from the vehicle in front of you towards the vehicle in front of them - it is likely that your 4 Zero Elite will also be able to pick up that signal as it bounces back. Therefore if you are on a road and your detector seems to be continuously alerting you to radar when following cars, this is the likely cause and it can be stopped by hitting the MUTE function. Also, as the 4 Zero Elite includes rear facing radar detection, it is possible that it can also be picking up any active vehicle-emitted radar from the same systems coming from the vehicle behind you if that vehicle is so equipped.Having got that out the way, the unit differs over its predecessor in that it can now be updated via a Bluetooth connected device, such as a PC, Tablet or Phone. Both Apple IOS and Android devices are supported. The available Apps can be freely downloaded and when activated, download the Aura database update to the device or PC and from there, vie Bluetooth to the 4 Zero. This saves having to disconnect the unit from the car and connect it directly to a PC to update it. However, the 4 Zero Elite Bluetooth retains the ability to update it via the PC directly, so you have a choice. You must register the unit’s unique serial number first on Snooper’s official site before you can download the Aura database updates. Once this is done you can then use the App or the direct method to update the unit with the latest update. Updates are free for the life of the product with no additional fees. The kit comes with a windscreen mount with twin suction cups, plus a Velcro dash sticker pad if preferred, a USB PC connection cable for updating, a fused hardwire lead for wiring directly into the car and a 12V accessory power supply too.I have to say that getting a reminder of high risk zones is invaluable as it does keep you on your toes and not to become complacent. There are many configurable options, so I would strongly suggest that you spend time reading the simple manual and a little time in configuring the unit to suit your specific locality and driving needs so get the full benefit of the system. You cannot expect to take a device like this out of the box and expect it to meet every need without first updating the database and then configuring it.I am very pleased with this newer unit as I was with its predecessor. It works very well and I would not be without it.

Nice unit
Seems to do what it's meant to ,unable to update via Android which is a shame ,updates great by computer. Not as loud as I would like easy to miss an alarm with radio on . Screen is good if slightly small but it's very clear ,the one real downside is it won't tell you the speed of normal roads your on only roads with alerts ,I did know this when I brought unit .

Pro and con
It's not as great as other reviews point out. But, i still decided to keep it becausePro: (some what)1. it has gps speed camera with radar & laser detectors. Although no way to know how good the radar and laser detector part works for me at this time2. gps speed camera works well, loud enough alerts when i turned off automute and autorange.3. I like the continuous alert till the speed camera4. Bluethoth and PC (windows 7) updates worked for me, but with some difficulty, but it works.5. Unless you go for Road Angel device, which is very expensive, none others are as good as this one on gps speed camera unfortunately. Road Angel requires yearly subscription and this one is free!Con:1. The windscreen suction mount cannot be taken out of the device once put it. So you will have to take off the suction cups from the windscreen! terrible design this.2. It does NOT filter speed camera on the other side of the road/motorway/whereever no matter how many times you setup correct settings3. Update process does not tell you which version it is uploading to your device, so no way to know if it is really updating or not4. very buggy update process. Sometimes works on bluetooth and other times, bluetooth stop working. Same with PC. works one time, doesn't work next time. I had to reboot PC and restart the Snooper few times to get it to work.summary: Main reason to buy this because Road Angel is too expensive. Also Snooper has radar & laser detector, but not sure how quick it is to detect those and alert or the sensitivity. I would not depend on the radar & laser detection.

Snooper 4Zero Elite BT GPS/Radar/Laser Detection Device with Bluetooth
Previously had a Road Angel for 8 years, decided to try this Snooper detector as a cost effective alternative, it does seem to function ok and after 3 months of use I am getting use to it. Fair to say its not half as good Road Angle. You get what you pay for as always.
