I bought it for personal use, and it has proven very practical, especially since it requires no installation and I can use it exactly where I need it. Very practical and easy to use. I keep it in the kitchen and it really helps reduce smoke and cooking odors. The 3 speed levels are noticeable, it’s quiet, and the size is perfect for placing on the counter or table. The filter works well and the collection cup makes cleaning easy. Great for small spaces.

We were having issues with the extractor at the kitchen. We think that it was not enough. But now with this portable range hood it is working perfectly fine. It has even sometimes issues with the smoke when we are cooking and not anymore. I love that it's possible to have a big coverage of the area. Now, with us, we are not cleaning that much because it's helping us to avoid additional mess around the kitchen area and cabinets.

1. Noise level is average, there is a higher speed setting where it gets slightly noisier but nothing overwhelming. 2. This size is convenient to keep on any counter near your cooktop. 3. The build looks sleek. there is a small metal circle that is inlaid in the port meant to connect the fan to power. This little circle piece popped out after 2 weeks of use. There is a removable plastic filter piece that is designed to sit inside the fan and can be removed for ease of cleaning. There are also 2 carbon filters that come with the device that are not noted or explained in the manual so I figured that out in my own to place in the back of the removable plastic filter. They don’t seem to do much for absorbing smell but are better than just using the plastic filter on its own. 4. This definitely creates air flow which can be seen by the cooling vapors getting sucked into the fan. However, I found that it does not remove greasy cooking air. There’s a small compartment in the back of the fan to supposedly collect cooking oils out of the air it sucks in. This is shown in their video. I’ve used this device now for over a month with both types of filter settings and on all speed settings - it has never collected a drop. It remains dry and clean, untouched. 5. This device does not significantly cut down on cooking fumes or greasy cooking fumes. I live in a studio so that’s why I wanted something to reduce cooking fumes but this just spread the air around. It’s overpriced at $100 for what it claims to do. I unfortunately cannot return it because I’ve had the product past the return window date as I tried to give it a chance.

I did a test, cooking four hamburger patties in a blazing hot cast iron skillet. In the past, this would have smoked up our kitchen and left grease everywhere. I placed this device, running on high, about 6 inches from the pan. Amazingly, it got most of the smoke and nearly all the splattered grease on the side of the pan near the fan. When I cleaned it later, I found well over a tablespoon of grease in the grease cup, grease that would have been all over the kitchen. Why 3 stars? As I was cooking, I noticed the outer "polymer filter" wrinkling from the heat. I cleaned the filter assembly and tried to reassemble it but the outer filter was too distorted to go back in the filer ring. I contacted Tuco about this issue and all they said was not to place it closer than 4 inches from the pan, which I had not. So I returned the item. It's a shame. They'd have a decent product if they used high-temperature plastic for their filters. Based on my results, it's not made for hot cooking as I did, but given that it couldn't withstand a single use at these temperatures, I'm sure it would gradually degrade even with lower-temperature cooking.
