I spent a long time looking for a dog birthday cake for my boy's third birthday which wasn't filled with sugar and wheat and other such nasties. Why do dog bakers do that!? This was perfect: easy to mix and easy to bake - a complete novice in the kitchen would make it with no trouble. It was more of a rock cake texture, so not like a human birthday cake, which I think I'd been expecting. It was shared between 7 dogs of various sizes. Usually, out of my boy and his neighbouring friends, they'll be one or another who turns their nose up at anything new, but every single one of them wolfed it down! In fact, the biggest girl tried to get into my sink where I'd deposited the empty tin! There was enough left over for them to take some home, and I saved a chunk for my boy tomorrow. They could have happily eaten it all, but it looks very dense and rich, so we thought it wiser to be careful as it's a new food. I'm tempted to buy some more and use it to make treats which I can freeze. I'll definitely be buying it again for his birthday next year! Thank you for making a dog cake mix which is actually dog friendly.

Love this cake mix. So hard to find things with quality ingredients, especially with no chicken which my dog is allergic to. He's also allergic to egg, so instead of the eggs and water listed in the instructions I added around 150ml soda water. Worked perfectly and my dog wolfed down his birthday cupcake! Not cheap but definitely worth it when you have dietary requirements.

I've tried a few dog specific baking recipes in the past but didn't think they worked out very well. For my dogs 17th birthday I decided to try a cake mix to see how my attempts at homemade compared. This box had two packets, one that resembled flour and the other looked like small tube extruded soft-ish meat bits. You mix both of those ingredient bags with two eggs and a bit of water then bake. I decided to use muffin wrappers in my cupcake pan- it made six surprisingly large muffins. I was impressed at how quickly and easily it mixed by hand with just a silicone spoon. It had some lumps from the turkey bits but was primarily smooth and very sticky. My dog has some tummy issues and does well with turkey which is why I decided on this brand, but I thought that because he loves banana bread I would throw a banana into this mix as well. My dog is elderly and has very few teeth left so I wanted to make sure the cake would be soft but it would have been plenty soft without the banana addition. I wasn't planning on decorating them with anything so thought the bit of fruit sweetness was a good extra. They baked very yellow and the tops turned a pretty golden brown colour that reminds me of cornbread muffins. I checked at 10 minutes but left them in the oven another 5 minutes until the middles felt firm when pressed. The first "taste test" got a wide eye approval so it's good on that front! I do think this product is a bit expensive but the ingredients were good quality and made it extremely quick and easy to make something special for my little old man. The cost was worth it when compared to premade treats, especially grain free options and for sensitive digestive systems. (No added 💨s.) I think this would make a great gift even for people who don't do much baking.

My dog was absolutely obsessed with this cake. Like it made her feral she loved it so much 😂 to be fair, it smelled a bit gross, but it looked a bit like a chocolate chip cake, it was tempting! Easy instructions, very few ingredients to add and my dog loved it.

Hugely successful purchase! Made the perfect cake for our big dog’s birthday. It doesn’t look amazing when you bake it, but it’s for dogs. They think it’s THE BEST (or at least our boy did). We put a thin layer of cream cheese on top as a frosting Would happily buy again for every birthday for the rest of his (hopefully very long) life
