how tall is the pot with the lid on please?

22 cm , with strainer without strainer 17cm

Are there holes in the bottom of the strainer as well as on the sides? Or only on the sides?

Yes. I use it every week. I find it’s best to hand wash not to put in the dishwasher. Also I use it without strainer for one pot meals.

Can i use it as a fryer?

I can not see why you could not use it as a fryer.

Can it be used for cooking rice

I have not used it for rice but I don’t see why not. I would only use the pan. Have used the pan to make stews perfect results.
