Vitax Slug Gone Wool Pellets, Natural, Organic Barrier To Protect Borders, Pots & Containers From Slugs And Snails, Long Lasting - 5L

This year I had a terrible problem with slugs, as soon as the dahlias sprouted little shoots, the slugs were there at night eating them. But when finally I bought the SlugGone pellets and spread around the plants, the leaves remained uneaten and the dahlias started to grow. I had spread a thick (probably 12-15 cm wide) circle all around each plant and watered as per instructions. I made sure there were no gaps, and no other plant leaves providing “bridges” across the wool.I also tried a different brand of wool pellets, which had a much finer texture, but these had no effect at all.Next spring I plan to spread SlugGone basically all over my borders as protection.

This worked, it’s wildlife safe as we have other visitors to our garden. Don’t want to hurt anyone just deter. No smell, easy to pour out. We used round the edge of the vegetable patch. Worked well. My peas 🫛 we no longer eaten!!

Used as per instructions. Found slugs would go over it, after 24 hours. Had to resort to conventional slug pellets. Its a very expensive product for it to be ineffective

Smells like sheep close up, so don't go snorting it. If you've never smelled a sheep up close, go-ahead and have a good sniff!It looks fine, no different to a mulch. Doesn't dissolve when wet, or wash away.It's easy to use, but expensive for how little comes in the bag.Aaand finally, it doesn't seem to work. There. I said it. I've literally watched snails and slugs make their way across it at night, and even had the wherewithal to take photographic evidence.Unless my local slugs can be proven to have that special "zero forks given" attitude, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this product doesn't work.

I ordered two bags of this to try to combat a snail/slug invasion of a small flower bed, which had been decimated with every plant left in ruins. I had tried organic pellets previously, which were useless, so i put this down with low expectations but was pleasantly surprised that it actually worked!However, on opening the first bag the smell was diabolical - sort of like very strong manure - and it took 3-4 days for that to disappear, although the smell returned when the product got wet due to rain.Also worth noting is that the product swells in the rain when newly laid, so a little actually goes a long way.I would still recommend this, despite the smell, as even after several weeks it does still appear to be keeping the snails away.

I didn’t like the smell so thought maybe slugs wouldn’t either!!I used these at the cemetery and they didn’t work just made a mess and slugs still got to flowers and in potSo sorry I wouldn’t buy again

I have used these for a couple of summers now and they really do work. Best to put them in your pots at the time of planting before any slugs have had a chance to get in the pots. I've found that you do need to top them up a couple of times during the season, so it's not the cheapest if like me you have a lot of pots! On the other hand it's easy to use and so much better than pellets that will kill more than your slugs.

These did come so welcome. Anything to deter small menaces most certainly has to be worth-while. Thanks go to all concerned.
