Asterisk Cookbook: Solutions to Everyday Telephony Problems 1st Edition

Another fairly straightforward and basic book about the world of Asterisk. It's a good book for entry-level programmers, but I'm still looking for a much more sophisticated book for more advanced applications. As with most O'Reilly books, this book will lead you through what you need to know so as to get you started. I'd recommend buying it for those that want to get into the world of Asterisk.

I agree with most of the former reviews. While this book is indeed really helpful, its not worth the price its being sold for. A more reasonable price would be $1.99 or $2.99. You will be through this book within 1 - 2 hours. I was appalled when i started to get excited and realized i was at the end of the book.

Just make sure that you purchase the Definitive Guide as well, or else it won't help you understand the structure of an asterisk PBX system....

This book contains 30 to 40 well documented practical examples that go beyond the basics. I hope the authors will publish another edition with a few hundred recipes.I don't have the time to read hundreds of posts on asterisk mailing lists to figure out these examples for myself, a decent buy.

Absolutely agree with reviewer j F Pirus.It has <52 pages and looks like a copybook.And as to my mind, it is too expencive copybook.I expected another volume and content.It was better to buy [...] with a huge amount of recepts.

WARNING: This "book" is only 52 pages long.It has 23 "Recipes".Think a comic's thickness.Content is Ok, but appalling value for money.

Tells you how to DO stuff. Really important if you use Asterisk. Get a primer or a textbook if you want to LEARN Asterisk.

Plenty of example and lots of ideas you may not have considered for your pbx. Wish it was a bit longer.
