Mount on solid surface
First off its really heavy so like the title said mount it on a solid surface. Its very well made and sturdy, its design ignores the typical 3 point bend but what it goes with works well and is easy to set up.

Quite a well-built Mount!
This is a well-built monitor mount/arm assembly that so happens to come with a laptop tray, so they advertise it as a laptop mount. The cable routing features are easy to work with, unlike some monitor arms I've worked with. My only gripe with the assembly was that the main tensioner isn't accessible until you actually bend the the arm -- you might as well mount it first before messing with the tensioner screw, because it takes a lot of force to bend it prior to mounting. As for the laptop tray, I have two main concerns. The tabs that insert to install the side clips into place are small and fragile. As such, be mindful of what ports you need on the side of your laptop before installing them. I had to use a flathead to pop the clips back out after realizing I needed to access my ports, so I put the right-hand side lower on the tray than depicted in the instruction manual. The second concern is the knubs that hold the laptop up -- they don't actually protrude as much as they seem to from the product photos. Alas, since it's only attached with a screw, it is removable and you could 3D print your own if they ever fail or if your laptop is too thick for comfort.

Heavy-duty
This thing is a beast. If you were ever worried about a flimsy laptop or monitor stand, this is for you. While there are recommendations for the weight being held, I would feel comfortable with a little extra if needed. Not only does it provide many viewing position settings, it also provides for two mounting configurations. One uses a traditional clamp on style, while another allows for a more permanent installation (you will have to drill a hole in your surface). With a little bit of engineering this could be used on stage for those that perform live and require a laptop for backing tracks and such. The drawback in the setup is that it requires allen keys to lock in the position you want, more precisely, two or three different sizes. While the keys are provided with a clip on holder for them, it can become tiresome if you change the positions a lot, not so much if your looking for the sweet spot and will not adjust it again. All in all a very versatile design on a very stable platform.

poor instructions
Parts appeared to be here, but strange cables are shown on the diagram of the articulated arm. Assembled, the item will not bend at any of its joints. Its weight could topple a table, if a laptop were turned in the wrong direction. If you got one to work, I recommend you drill a hole and use the bolt rather than the clamp.
