For Fiberglass Screens?
Since I had no experience replacing screens, I debated over getting this tool or one with the metal rollers. After reading a review by a professional who said it is easy to rip the screen with a metal roller, I chose this one.Since I was replacing aluminum screens, I was a little taken aback when I received it and noticed the package said, "For fiberglass screens." But I decided to give it a try anyway.Even though the front of the package specified the tool was for fiberglass screens, the back of the package gave directions for both fiberglass and aluminum screens. The directions for aluminum were very helpful.Instead of working around the perimeter of the frame (as directed for fiberglass), it said you should do the top and bottom of an aluminum screen, then cut the screen across the outside corners before pushing the retainer splines into the sides.Following those directions, and working slowly and carefully, the first screen turned out beautifully. I found out why the packaged specified tool use with fiberglass screen. The aluminum screen had quickly chewed up the edge of the concave roller. But I figured the tool would last at least as long as it took to do 2 more screens.Heady with success, I decided I could finish the next 2 screens a little more quickly than I had the first one. I proceeded to ruin 2 pieces of screen by applying too much pressure and going too fast. Luckily, I had more screen material than I needed for the job, so I cut 2 more pieces to size and finished the last two screens successfully by slowing down and following the directions which state: "Short, even strokes work best."By the time I got to the last one, the aluminum had chewed the nylon concave roller to the point it was looking more flat than concave, but it still worked fine and I'm sure I the tool has enough life for many more screen replacements.I almost removed one star since the item description does not mention that the tool is for use with fiberglass screen, but I have no doubt that I would have messed up more than 2 screens if I had been using a tool with metal rollers since the contact that was wearing away the edge of the nylon roller would have been cutting through the screen. And my results were definitely worth the small price of this tool.

Works well, not bad for the price
It works well. I accidentally ran it off track and hit the screen a few times but there was no damage. I've replaced about 5 screens with it now, 3 of them fairly large, and the roller edge is starting to roll over a little. I don't know how many more I'll be able to do before it's too worn to work. There's really not much to it, it's made from cheap plastic rivetted together where the wheels rotate. For the price, I don't think it's bad but it's not a tool that will last forever.

Does the job well
I had never worked with screens but one screen on my travel trailer came out of part of its groove. It's a fiberglass screen and I knew I didn't want a metal roller so I ordered this one. As several reviewers pointed out, it's not a well finished tool and the roller wheel is rather rough. Nevertheless it worked like a charm the first time so I'm quite pleased with it.

Great tool for the price.
This is the first spline tool I have owned that did not have metal rollers. It was smaller, lighter and looked and felt like a cheap tool. After re-screening a couple of doors and a window I was completely satisfied with its performance. Whenever I would slip out of the spline groove, it did not rip up the screen. I am giving this tool five stars for its bang for the buck and performance. Not sure about it’s long term durability for commercial applications but for a home owner I think it will last quite a while.

Mine Were Great
Maybe it's hit and miss, but I replaced all 35 window screens in the house and one roller held up. I bought a second expecting the first to go out but it didn't. By the end the plastic edges of the roller were a bit duller, but still sharp enough to stay on track over the rubber splines. So I have kept the second as a spare.

Plastic wheels won't cut screen if you slip while rolling
This isn't as tough as the metal ones; I bought two because I know they will probably break and I didn't want to get stuck halfway done. There is a real advantage to plastic wheels though.. if you slip while rolling, you won't ruin the screen you're working on. The metal ones sometimes will cut the screen or damage it.

Good price, works fine on flat and rounded spline
I was concerned it'd be too flimsy, but I re-did all of the screens on my small house with this. It held up fine. I used flat spline for my screened porch and rounded spline for windows, and it worked very well on both. The wheels show some wear, but it's still in good enough shape to have a home in my toolbox. The plastic tool might be better for the novice because if you slip while rolling (common as we learn) you run less risk of damaging the screen if you're using a lightweight roller.

Cheaply made!!
You get what you pay for I guess. This product is very cheaply made. The rivets holding the wheels attached came out after the first use.
