Does help protect fingertips before callouses begin for guitarists
A big help

This WORKS!!
This is the best stuff to protect your fingertips until you earn your callouses with practice! Boy, how I wish I had this back in the 60s when I first learned guitar! I am just overjoyed with how effective this formula is! It really protects your fingers while practicing your stringed instrument. It is KryptoniteProtection against the sharpest metal strings! It doesn't come off easily, but if you really NEED to remove it, a short soak in hot water with a squirt of Dawn, (which I accidentally discovered while washing a few dishes!) And I am guessing that the formula, once applied would be a temptation to any serious nail-biters, a habit I was sure I had broken 50 years ago!)The formula is in a small bottle and is applied using the "cap brush" (like fingernail polish) on just the small area of your fingertips that needs a little "protection pillow", then allow the formula to dry, less than a minute. Once dry, it gives the greatest protection I've ever used...and I think I've tried EVERY item ever invented by musicians since Noah! I would give it more than just 5 stars, if I could! The only "con" of the formula is that it is hard to remove...so be careful not to get it on your clothing or anything you value (like you would with nail polish). Note to parents: the one thing that contributes to your children not practicing & giving up interest in stringed instruments is that pesky problem "It hurts my fingers"....this is like liquid insurance to solve the issue! So buy a few bottles of this formula along with cases, bags, extra strings, a strap, electronic tuner, music books, etc, etc I have several bottles, one in my guitar case, one in the drawers in my music room, one in the locker I have at music school, and one in my handbag....it's also effective at resolve those surprises runs in your stocking, too!Good luck, and happy playing!

Works best, but very overpriced
The only real competitor to Rock Tips is a very thin layer of Superglue. Rock Tips is better because the applicator can spread this more appropriately so that you don't lose the feel of the strings. Superglue can very quickly mask that feel causing mistakes, as well as the edge of the applied glue actually catch the string like a fingernail. As Superglue starts to wear, it will get little creases that can again just lightly pluck the string like a fingernail brushing it where as Rock Tips generally doesn't. I just really don't like the price of this product, which is also rising too quickly. You don't get very many applications until the bottle is drying and soon the brush applicator breaks. That's because this product arrives with very little actual fluid in the bottle. I regret needing to use this product once in a while but anyone who works a lot of overtime (which is a lot of you) eventually needs this bailout to get through a set. Rock Tips, please fill the bottle.

Tough hands in seconds!
Great for hands that are subject to problems with minor nicks and scrapes. Perfect for guitar players needing to develop tough finger tips.

I really wanted to like this
I was hoping this would help a little more than it did. I put two coats on to start with and let it dry fully between coats. It wasn’t long before it just kind of started cracking and disintegrating away. I just did a maybe 45 min-1hr practice session and my little fingees are killing me. I’m a beginner player so I didn’t expect miracles out of this product. It just wasn’t worth the money I don’t feel like. I guess I’ll be breaking my fingers in the old fashioned way.

Skeptical at first, but it really works!
I'm a bass player for 40+ years. I had to take a long break due to a hand injury, and when I started practicing again I got blisters on my fingertips.I thought this stuff was going to be like Nu Skin or superglue, but nope - it works so much better. The key is THIN coats. multiple coats if you need them. Two thin coats is all it took for me, I was playing again within minutes AND the blister healed very quickly - it was almost gone the next day.I keep a bottle in my gig bag now at all times.
