Well, the marble is very pretty, but it is also slick. I haven't been able to wash it, let it dry then put my butter in it and make it stay. When I take it out of the bottom with the H2o in it the butter falls out into the water. So I scoop it out....... it must take a bit of time of cleaning or something because the finish is very smooth. Not sending it back, just keep on keeping on trying.EQ from CA

After years of messy butter dishes and lids not staying put not to mention washing the lids before you finished the stick of butter because the lid would slide. No more hassles. This butter dish keeps butter spreadable and covered securely without mess. No messy butter dish anymore. I couldn’t be happier.I washed it as soon as I got it, dried it and followed the clear simple instructions and there’s always some ready to spread butter and I have a new stick in the fridge ready for a refill it use. The water kind of makes a slight vacuum seal without it being difficult to open. This is genius.

We really like our butter crock, you need to keep the sides of cup with butter on them to make sure there is a seal otherwise the butter falls down. Also not too close to the stove as my husband found out just little heating makes it slide down. Not too much water in the base, it does not need much. If you are putting a stick of butter in be sure you let is soften up to squish it in.Otherwise, I really like using it. My butter does not turn green or mold like I was told it would do.

Within a month we had a chip in the water basin part of the unit.

I ordered this butter dish because I like soft butter, but we have pets and kids so leaving butter out the traditional way was messy and risky. I have been using this for about two weeks now and butter is always clean, and at the perfect softness to spread without tearing up the toast . Just remember to change the water every couple of days and it is the perfect counter helper. Also, pro tip...if you want to keep crumbs out of butter, wipe the knife with a napkin before each use..
