Smoked Mackerel

Not pleasant !
I bought this relish and another relish of the same type as a surprise for my husband at Christmas as he is somewhat of a connisseur, but unfortunately he did not enjoy it much. He said the taste was disappointing and peppery and seeing as they are both languishing in the fridge only partly eaten this far after Christmas they can't be that pleasant ! Disappointing so most certainly wouldn't recommend or buy them again. Sorry.

very disappointed
Very disappointed, this product pales in to insignificance compared to its cousin ( "The Gentleman's Relish" which I find to be of the most excellent quality and taste), there not enough mackerel content (only 47%) and the overwhelming taste of lemon and vinegar makes any taste of mackerel almost indistinguishable and most unpalatable.

Marmite product
Love it or hate it - not much inbetween. I like the gentlemans relish but I don't like this. Probably nothing wrong with it but I just dont like the concentrated fish taste.

Disappointing
Bought this as I've loved the anchovy Gentlemans Relish version for years. Didn't like this one at all but that may just be my tastebuds.

Fish paste with attitude! (Adults Only!).
Wonderfully powerful taste! Great on toast or crispbread or crackers! You only need a small amount, so it lasts quite a while (if you can resist temptation).Try it with cheese & Swedish mustard.!

No taste of fish whatsoever - Just a lemon taste
A complete disappointment. The only taste that comes through is of the lemon ingredient.

Very tasty
I think these 'Relish' products will be like Marmite to most people, either love it or hate it! I'm definitely in the former category and like all of them. Bit of an expensive treat but worth it occasionally as a treat.

Nice
I prefer the anchovy one, patum peperium.
