Farmer Duck: A beloved classic from the recipient of An Post Irish Book Awards’ Bob Hughes Lifetime Achievement Award

My children had this book when they were small. I bought the book to send to my grandson in America. It was one of the books my children loved so I hope he enjoys it just as much.

As a primary school teacher I have read this enchanting book to many children and feel it is a modern classic. The repetitive nature of phrases gives children the chance to join in and enhances reading skills. Beautiful illustrations. I can not recommend this boom highly enough.

Let's face it; who wants to be discussing Hegelian dialectic with a three year old? This is a good way to introduce Marxism to the kids - or indeed anyone with a limited intellect - without that messy business at the end of Animal Farm. Socialist utopian fun for all the family.

I have read this book many times to my classes in previous years, but wanted it as guided reading book for my class. Ideal for younger children with repeated language throughout the text. Beutiful painted illustrations really bring the characters alive - especially the poor old duck!

Bought for the grandchildren aged 6 and 3 for Christmas 2014. The greeting from both of them every time they come on the phone is now: 'how goes the work?'. They LOVE the book and so do I! Great bit of covert trade unionism!

This is a story where the farmer is a lazy man who doesn't get out of bed. He makes his duck do all the work for him in the farm. And what the duck eventually does to change things. Nice story

This book is very sweet and funny. My daughter (1) loves it. She makes me read it to her several times a day. The pictures are lovely and the story is well-written. She loves the way the animals communicate.
