How are people getting motors onto this? The front support is so wide I can't fit it up to the engine on a hoist.

I started by bolting the plate onto the engine. Then, I backed the stand in between the hoist legs so I could get the plate as far in as possible. Slowly lower the hoist until the mounting plate is about level with where it inserts into the stand. Sometimes, I had to negotiate with the stand with a hammer to beat it onto the plate, but once it's on just place the retainer pin and let the engine (very slowly) down. It's a process, but very doable.

need this for a 472 cadillac motor, will it do the job?

Will hold it but do not recommend for even small block v8 if using to turn and rebuild. No brake or anything on rotation. Works great on small motors (4 and small 6 cyl)

Will this work with GM LS engines or do I need a seperate adapter?
