Installation was straightforward and everything worked exactly as expected. The voice alerts are clear and much more helpful than a simple chirp because they tell you exactly what the issue is. The build quality feels solid and the units connected properly with the existing wiring without any hassle. I also like having the battery backup for extra protection in case the power goes out. Overall these provide a great combination of reliability, safety features, and ease of installation. Definitely a worthwhile upgrade for anyone looking to improve the safety of their home.

These Kidde model 30CUAR-V hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, AA battery backup, with voice alerts, and interconnection are fantastically loud, and the interconnection works perfectly, however the way they come in the box, the interconnection red wire has a red cover on the end of it, which makes one think it’s activated by frequency, but they’re not activated by frequency, if you pull the red cover off, it exposes the already stripped wire just like the black and white wires, so you need to hard wire the interconnection red wire to the red wire coming from the outlet box, that’s how they interconnect.

Replaced our existing sensors with these. One of our old sensors failed after 10 years and we needed to replace them all. The sensors come with plug and wiring to connect to your existing 120VAC household electrical circuit. Instructions were easy to understand and follow. Batteries come pre-installed with a pull tab that you easily remove to activate the battery backup. They fit perfectly into the previous Kidde sensor mounting bracket. Testing after installation was easy. They are guaranteed for 10 years and they are well designed and functional.

Great product with easy installation.

We came from the discontinued Nest Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detectors and chose these as replacements. Big shoes to fill and believe me, these don't even come close. At first, I thought they were going to be great, but they keep throwing false alarms. One will detect "Fire!" then because our alarms are interconnected, they all start beeping. The entire house goes into a frenzy. We rush to check everywhere, and there is never any fire, never any smoke. Then they sometimes start reporting carbon monoxide even though there are no open flames, no heaters in use. At first, we thought it was a real alarm and left the house. Now we ignore the alarms and that is very bad. We've just gone through another night of these going off for no reason. I see we are not alone. I'm replacing these. Very disappointed.

Easy to use and was compatible to my old combo smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Very reliable detector.

At night, my smoke alarms started randomly going off, then stopping every 15 minutes or so. After an hour of panic checking for fire and/or gas leaks, I assumed the Kidde alarms reached their end of life. I pulled one down and it was a bit more than 10 years old. So not wanting to redrill holes, I ordered Kidde again hoping they retained the same baseplate layout. After arrival, I replaced all the wired detectors with these new ones and fortunately, they all fit the same base. They tested fine and thankfully, the random alarms stopped. I should be good for another decade. Dislikes: I really dislike that they changed the wire connector. So either I had to rewire or use their optional adaptor. Rewiring is easy, but in my case, they were tucked way into the ceiling. With the adaptor being about $5, I chose to go that route. Worked just fine, but it was annoying. I also dislike that the backup battery is located on the backside of the detector. This means I have to remove the detector to change it. The older model had the battery on the front side. And finally, the cost. I have 3 smoke detectors in parallel and had to change all 3. These smoke detectors are not cheap. I understand they also detect carbon monoxide and it's hard to put a price on safety, but I still can complain about it.

I purchased these to replace 10 year old Kiddie detectors in my home. These newer model detectors do not fit the old connectors but you can either buy an adapter (optional) or just rewire it. It’s not difficult to rewire it as the wires are already pre-stripped so I didn’t waste the cost of buying adapters. I installed 6 units in about 40 minutes including the time it took to cart my ladder around and switch off breakers. The main point to remember is that smoke detectors should be replaced ever ten years. They lose their effectiveness after that time.
